FUTURE’S BRIGHT AT THE TIGERS DESPITE CURRENT WOES

Maybe Paws but goes against what the club has been doing with others (Aho, Nicholson, Kit, Vaihu, Hodges etc) so makes you wonder.
Some of those players you have mentioned, Hodges and Nicholson, are fine young players. Vaiho if he can improve his defence has potential. Clubs have also brought players up to the NRL bypassing NSW Cup.

Well the so called “good defensive players” haven’t been playing as good defensive players have they?

Let them go.

The reason the older guys have the shits is because the younger guys are having a crack.
Yes for the most part, they have.
The problem is our systems.
Your last sentence is ridiculous, fanboy bullshit.

Interesting selections in lower grades again this week which may suggest where their standing atm …

Matamua on bench in Cup
Tumeth & Faagutu continue in Flegg
In addition to Naden & Bud not making the NRL 22 squad again
If Faagutu doesn’t debut by the end of season similar to Kit & Feledy I guess it’s safe to assume he’s on the outer seeing as he can negotiate from Nov 1

Exactly . My main issue was Robbie and Heighno in the coaches box . Not because they weren’t legends and I doubted thier knowledge , but they hadn’t developed the skills to teach that knowledge .
We need someone who has that skill set in this kit bag . Like a Michael Hagan type .
I think a man manager overseeing the whole program is the right move , is that Benji ? I dunno , but the idea is sound IMO. Mainly because the head coach spends as much time in meetings about player recruitment , 1 on 1s with players , media commitments , meetings with members and the board , meetings with managers etc .
The actual training is rarely covered by the nrl coach . He’s just overseeing , and probably multi tasking whilst that’s going on as well . Especially during the season .
It’s not the 1980s where it’s Warren Ryan and a trainer , running roads in concord .
It’s 💯 about getting right coaches to implement the strategy , refine it and deliver it . And I think external of Morris , we didn’t have enough of that in the room . With all due respect to Robbie and Heighno.
You simply don’t know what you don’t know …
Hey Lestronge
Finally someone who understands the difference between a Coach and a Trainer.
I still don’t think Benji has stopped being a Trainer as I have seen him jump in at training and showing how to do certain plays.
That’s not his job,
The Coaching side should be setting the game plan hoping that the Trainers have taught each player how to do each task.

I would agree that we are losing decent defenders in the forwards in Bateman & Papali'i.

Utoikamanu is uninterested & that could lead to some of his poor defence at the moment, but it is painful watching players skip past him so easily.

Best defensive forwards at the Tigers are Klemmer & Seyfarth. Sam Fainu is learning & has bad reads, but his overall defence is solid.

Pole & Sione Fainu need to work on both reads & technique.

There are a number of solid defensive players available to add. None have the name recognition that will please the mass audience though. But I'd suggest we will do better with them in the squad.

The take that all the younger players are absolved of blame by the supporter base is blinkered & supports one narrative. What I think is, most fans will believe that the youngsters need to play to get improvement. That comes with it's own downsides, as we are seeing.

What the club needs to do, in my opinion, is get enough squad depth so that our young players are not relied upon so much as blooded.

The decision was essentially taken out of the clubs hands with these three. They either wanted out or became that frustrated with losing that their performance suffered.

Having around 20% of the cap free now, it’s essentially a win win as Richo needed to reshape the roster and we weren’t going to do that without releasing some highly paid players.

The big test is how that money is spent.

Dont be stupid.
All of them bar Tupou.
I can see both sides of this argument Richo is damned if you do and damned if you don't. He could hold the players till better are signed which could prolong the roster turnaround depending on what's available. He can do as he is now and just punt the players viewed as surplus and just start ripping the band aid off and moving on asap. Imo we've let go of players who at other clubs will perform well but at the Tigers won 2 wooden spoons, there are issues at the club undoubtedly that are the reasons for that, irrespective they aren't performing so am more supportive of just getting it done asap so the roster rebuild can happen sooner. In my eyes winning 3 or 4 wooden spoons in a row makes no diffrence on the condition we finally right the ship and do it properly this time. My concern is losing our young talent whilst going through this period.
