For now, it's a pretty big blow. Our outside back stocks in the juniors are paper thin. Nav was great aerially, and as he fills out he will become a lot more powerful with the ball. Not super fast, but as fast as nearly all our current NRL backs. The Manly Sea Eagles are set to sign one of the tallest players in NRL history, giving rival fans a new giant reason to hate them. Plus, a star Broncos duo seen performing a selfless act for the homeless. SPORT CONFIDENTIAL.

Manly are set to sign one of the tallest players in NRL history – with 201cm big man Navren Willett agreeing to join the Sea Eagles from next season.
Willett has come through the ranks at the Tigers but it is understood he will join Manly next season on a train and trial deal before being given a top 30 contract in 2026.
Only Brisbane giant Ben Te Kura at 205cm will stand taller than Willett with his height matching that of Melbourne prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona.
Willett is a winger who has scored two tries in three games for the Magpies in NSW Cup this year.
He's 18. Give him an offseason and watch him bulk upNever really saw the fuss about Willett. He had height but wasn’t fast or strong which isn’t ideal as a winger needs to at least have one or the other.
Can only assume that Willett assessed by coaches /Mgt and deemed not to be up to requirements. For now, it's a pretty big blow. Our outside back stocks in the juniors are paper thin. Nav was great aerially, and as he fills out he will become a lot more powerful with the ball. Not super fast, but as fast as nearly all our current NRL backs.
Staines, Naden, Lobb and Toa are all bog average, Staines the pick of the three. All could easily be axed.
With Skelton joining that's one decent winger at the club next year. Ngutlik is only just coming back from injury, has potential.
The likes of Faatape and Casey offer nothing. Saukuru has potential but has been injured this year and is a centre more than winger.
Laulilii has talent but is just very small, questions on his defence and high ball skills, and ability to just compete in the nrl level.
The Taotua boys have been in and out of Flegg. No wingers of note in Ball or Matts.
The only possibilities that would make this make sense:
1. Makasini and Large are on Dev contracts next year so we needed to free up the spot, it's fair to rate both higher than Nav.
2. Manly are trading us someone quality like Hopoate or Koula in exchange
3. We've signed another young star winger from elsewhere who we rate better than Nav.
If none of the above conditions come true then this is a massive stuff up from the club yet again. We must always have too much talent that we can't fit in, cherry pick and can't keep them all, but if we offload first and then hope to secure better that's just amateur. We really should be getting a trade from Manly regardless, can't just give them another Paseka for free.
Galvin won't run sideways as much if we get a forward pack that consistently punches over the advantage line & puts defence on the back foot.My evaluation in watching Bula in each of those many minutes have been confirmed by your stats. Him being great in some areas, yet lacking in assisting others, and missing the early highlight defensive efforts that had us all excited.
I expect that Luai will help him more in getting through the line, as Jahream can find a hole, and if Galvin can somewhat limit his sideways running that takes away the space out wide, they too will be a much more lethal combination. Hopefully others will be following him and taking the pass to score.

I was standing behind him with a couple of mates a few days ago at the local shopping centre. We were shocked to believe how small he is, and can see why hes always injured. Seriously if Benji signs Bird, hes more clueless than i ever imagined. Why would anyone seriously want to sign Bird now. SmhOh please No
Maybe wishful thinking, but if we're giving up one our best juniors we need to get something in return.Agree with your assessment of our limited depth in the outside backs but the suggestion that Manly would offer us Hopoate or Koula in exchange for Willett made me laugh.
Isn’t it good though that we are the ‘first to know’Red alert…someone rush down to the car park and find me a rocket launcher.

it’s quite possible, but the question is whether they’re leaving school at the end of this year.O. Large & Makasini taking Navreen Willett
and Will Craig's development spots or nah?
Makasini like Tulagi at the cowboys.Who’s the better player between Large and Makasini? What are their player comparison to any current players? Heard huge wraps from both but don’t know much about them 🤷🏽♂️
I think NBWT nailed it on X with Manly absorbing our arrangement for Willett which would have seen him top 30 in ‘26. Hopefully Makasini & Large now go onto T&T next season, top 30 in ‘26. That will keep us happy!O. Large & Makasini taking Navreen Willett
