Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have a look at the run by Myers, 28 mins to go. That was the moment my wife told me to settle down. It was disgraceful and they tackled like that all game, particularly the 2nd half.
I too was told to quieten down at that point. Myers crapped all over our pathetic backline. A far superior talent than what we have in our top 30

Gee whiz Keano Kini if he’s unsigned should be a priority signing! Bloke literally has speed to burn, makes crazy metres every game and a game breaker!

UPDATE: Keano just broke the NRL run metre record in a game HOLY 393 metres 😮
Fantastic player.
Yet some people are happy for Bula to just walk around the field. Kini puts the likes of Bula and Mason to shame. He annihilated us at Leichhardt too.

It's the right time to sign attitude over athletisism.

The guys the club are going to add aren't going to be the reason we win games. That's Koroisau, Luai, Galvin, Bula. That's their job.

We need guys that won't give us reason to lose games. The dumb penalties. The loose ball protection. The bad defensive reads.

If we can get 3 or so guys that can not give us reason to lose- and they come with the ability to add a little in attack as well- bonus.

The club has impact forwards. Sam Fainu. Sione Fainu. Fonua Pole. Jordan Miller, in time.

Give me 3-4 guys with a hard edge to them, with one of those guys acting as a back-up dummy half when called on, and another capable of shifting to centre if the need arises (Jazz Tevaga & Harrison Hassett have been mentioned on here & fit that bill).

Our middle additions need 3 things- physical strength (we are too weak in solitary tackling), intelligence (knowing when you simply cannot do dumb stuff) & a hard edge (when the going gets tough..)

As for the Facebook rumour, which I doubt is accurate- but let's say it is- Tex Hoy is a talented player- just not sure how he fits, unless the club knows Mason is not a fullback. Can play centre in a pinch I guess, if that's the idea?

Asiata was always a pretty interesting forward- but he's aging. Talented ball player who I think is as close to Todd Payten as you'll get.

Kaide Ellis is just solid. Probably strengthens depth, and his Super League stats show he doesn't do much dumb stuff- so that's good. If he is the depth the club has talked about- I see how it fits. He's worse than Twal, but if Twal goes down, you don't lose much etc.

He sure can run.

I mean, it's a shame that defence is part of the game- because if it wasn't I'd agree with your point. But because you do actually have to make tackles, and Bula is actually very good at that bit, averaging around 60% success rate in tackling is abysmal.

But I'm sure his 300+ metres secured the win over the Dragons.

Kleese Haas topped the Titans tackle count again today. Quality back rower. I'd like him at the club.

Those who are suggesting we should sign Royce Hunt….check him out today….he is fatfita 2.0…..spending way too much time in the maccas drive thru…no thanks from me
I also had a close look at Jack Williams standing around in the middle of the ruck making to step chases and then stopping.

That Knights-Sharks game could give you 4-5 genuine players of interest to add to the squad- Saifiti, Croker, Hetherington, Williams, Kaufusi, Hunt & Billy Burns all potentially available.

Croker & Hetherington numbers were great (particularly Croker) & Kaufusi had a great game.

If the club could haul Kaufusi, Croker, Hetherington & Jack Williams- that's a forward revolution.

I like Williams- but I think I'd have him as option 2-3 behind Jazz Tevaga/Dylan Walker (one or the other- not both) & Harrison Hassett (simply for role reasons as Hassett can fill in at centre if required).

Kaufusi, Croker & Hetherington- added to our pack- makes me happy.

Well we keep reading that the drag queens have said they will sign a front rower , now there 5-6 on the market , if the drag queens get one or two and we get None , then the club is not trying

I found when watching the game Hunt runs hard then hits the hand brake in the line. Was easy to get down once hit the defence. Easily fixed I reckon

Jazz Tevaga is shit.

Kaufusi and Williams are fair shouts, but won't get both out of the one club in my opinion.

Agree. I've been on the Hunt train and think he can still excel in a leadership role at our club but the more I watch him the more I think the best available prop for us is Oregon Kaufusi - he just fits the age profile better for us to lead our next gen.

We could get both as Kaufusi can opt-out of his mutual option & Williams is off-contract.

Out wingers are too short and do not make much yardage getting us out of our end… we desperately need tall wingers… so what do we do… let our up and coming 200cm winger depart the the club on a TT deal elsewhere…. How smart

Hunt is losing his shine
Seems he's doing the old contract year performance, trying to land a new club.

1] O. Kaufusi would be fantastic, he's constantly improving.
2] Jack Williams.
3] Bunty Afoa

Those 3 would transform our pack, dramatically.

Just reading about Dogs improvement in defence . I think we all knew Ciraldo was a top coach in the making, pity we couldnt lock him down before Dogs.
A mate and I have been “ discussing” whether it’s the coach or the Dogs recruitment that has led to the change. I say it has to be both but my friend says it’s more the coach coz he was the Penrith defence coach and they were the benchmark.
Reckons his systems could even make our players look like champs ?

Skelton is 191cm and a powerful runner

Assuming our other backs, Bula aside, will be;
Justin Olam,
Sunia Turiva
And Luke Lualilii

They're on the shorter side.

But we bought Skelton.... and Junior is replaceable. He has the laid back attitude of Bulla but without the natural talent.
