Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1. Bula/Mason
2. Turuva/Luke L
3. Olam/Faats/Saukuru
4. Doohey/Toa/Feledy/Naden
5. Skelton/Stains
6. Galvin
7. Jerry/Latu/Dud/Sezer

Thats the 18 backs we have for next year. The glaring obvious issue is the 2 centre positions. Olam is a solid first grader now, at his best he was a killer, I think his best is far behind him. Doohey is pretty decent in attack but tissue paper puts up a tougher defensive line than this bloke. The Tigers desperately need a gun centre for 2026 if this is an all but finalised list of what they have to put on the park in 2025. Those 7 centre players are very very very average. Any rumours out there of centres we are going after? Who is available?
Sullivan and Naden are out...

That list still worries me too. You look at it from Attack and staines/Galvin/Bula can cross the line. Olam, if fit can become a beast.

You look at it defensively. Every wing we have is weak, Bula is still new to the role, ... as defensive centers Olam/Naden would be the best above and that's piss poor. 🙁

I look at the list above, the best attacker is the best defender... Luai.

We need to sort this.

I noticed a report earlier this morning that Tom Opacic was not resigning with his UK club. Could he be a chance of coming back here? Was always a solid defender and capable centre. Not sure of his age, and he might be resigning with another Super League club, but I thought the timing was interesting.
32 next year, not a lot of experience and hasn’t played NRL since 2022.
Big gamble

Gee whiz Keano Kini if he’s unsigned should be a priority signing! Bloke literally has speed to burn, makes crazy metres every game and a game breaker!

UPDATE: Keano just broke the NRL run metre record in a game HOLY 393 metres 😮
Surely Brimson could be coming into the market considerations. Either himself looking for a full time fullback gig or the Titans looking to get value for his contract.

We signed STARFORD house there was no one better willing to come here back then.

He is solid enough.

The club is changing finally and we have worse contracts to clean up.
Look, nothing against us signing him then.

You take a risk on a junior player all the time.

What I am concerned about is us not being able to punt non performers. Sullivan - Payout. Reynolds/Mbye/.../take your pick.

If a player is risky, I don't mind paying overs to get him. Just not Overs + 3-4 year contracts.

They have both been given permission to leave but nothing official yet. Its been reported Naden has been in contact with the dragons and Hull in the UK. Dud has come out said he isnt going anywhere and still has 1.5mil contract until the end of 2027. Naden is signed up next year $300k and Dud for $500k. It would free up $800K to add to Richos $2mil war chest if the useless pricks that add nothing at all to the first grade team would just bugger off.

Same manager as Stef, iPap & Kepaoa too.

You are right. Another club would take him at full freight if Benji doesnt see him in our top 17.

His on-field attitude rubs me up the wrong way & doesn’t possess that eye of the tiger, just relies on a bit of class.
There's not a club in the league that would pay Toa at full freight. He's a Cup standard player. Someone may look at him as a no30 in their squad, minimum wage, so we'd Chip in half

Have a look at the run by Myers, 28 mins to go. That was the moment my wife told me to settle down. It was disgraceful and they tackled like that all game, particularly the 2nd half.
I too was told to quieten down at that point. Myers crapped all over our pathetic backline. A far superior talent than what we have in our top 30

Fantastic player.
Yet some people are happy for Bula to just walk around the field. Kini puts the likes of Bula and Mason to shame. He annihilated us at Leichhardt too.

It's the right time to sign attitude over athletisism.

The guys the club are going to add aren't going to be the reason we win games. That's Koroisau, Luai, Galvin, Bula. That's their job.

We need guys that won't give us reason to lose games. The dumb penalties. The loose ball protection. The bad defensive reads.

If we can get 3 or so guys that can not give us reason to lose- and they come with the ability to add a little in attack as well- bonus.

The club has impact forwards. Sam Fainu. Sione Fainu. Fonua Pole. Jordan Miller, in time.

Give me 3-4 guys with a hard edge to them, with one of those guys acting as a back-up dummy half when called on, and another capable of shifting to centre if the need arises (Jazz Tevaga & Harrison Hassett have been mentioned on here & fit that bill).

Our middle additions need 3 things- physical strength (we are too weak in solitary tackling), intelligence (knowing when you simply cannot do dumb stuff) & a hard edge (when the going gets tough..)

As for the Facebook rumour, which I doubt is accurate- but let's say it is- Tex Hoy is a talented player- just not sure how he fits, unless the club knows Mason is not a fullback. Can play centre in a pinch I guess, if that's the idea?

Asiata was always a pretty interesting forward- but he's aging. Talented ball player who I think is as close to Todd Payten as you'll get.

Kaide Ellis is just solid. Probably strengthens depth, and his Super League stats show he doesn't do much dumb stuff- so that's good. If he is the depth the club has talked about- I see how it fits. He's worse than Twal, but if Twal goes down, you don't lose much etc.

He sure can run.

I mean, it's a shame that defence is part of the game- because if it wasn't I'd agree with your point. But because you do actually have to make tackles, and Bula is actually very good at that bit, averaging around 60% success rate in tackling is abysmal.

But I'm sure his 300+ metres secured the win over the Dragons.

Kleese Haas topped the Titans tackle count again today. Quality back rower. I'd like him at the club.
