Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Personally I think Latu could evolve into a great modern-day lock.

Attack, he can bite into the line and offer an exceptional passing game (right to left), ??? on his left to right. Plus once he's got full confidence in his hamstrings, he's deceptively quick with short, fast strides that could open a team up not knowing whether he's going to pass or run.

Defence, he has great tackling technique & apparently pound-for-pound is one of our best on the wrestling mat. He often goes waist/legs height so another middle can go higher in the tackle.

Talk, he doesn't have a great voice yet on-the-field so this isn't such an issue at lock.

Someone like Latu could create massive width for us on set plays with long, fast link-passing creating space for Luai & Galvin to work their magic.

WHAT
Do we actually have a wrestling coach ?
IF SO
SACK HIM / HER

The club… which has talked it about on the Tim Johannssen episode of Behind The Roar and also at the end of the signing announcement of Jeral Skelton: “Further signings will be announced in the coming days.” Haven’t heard much on the signing front, just figured if your gonna say it at least make it worth it or just keep your mouth shut about signings.
Freudian slip up, meant months.

If he is even considering leaving the Broncos, the Roisters will offer him 600k, a rent free apartment at Bondi Junction, a free lease on a prestige car and a free financial planner to help him set up an investment portfolio.
When you weigh it all up, we could offer him 900k and we still don’t really compete.

Yeah …

they still got $2m leftover still to spend after they retain the likes of Leniu Crichton and Watson … We got the same but no one to spend it on

I think he has been injured a fair amount of the season and something with his attitude didn’t quite work for Ricky.
Interesting that the Dogs are reportedly circling. Seems to fit their mould of smaller, busier forward with fast leg speed. I would be happy for him to get a middle role - for the right price.
Gus’s MO seems to just be monitor the situation until a deal is close and then just try to swoop at the end. Also seems to target anything we are trying to do (eg: Ciraldo, Stef, etc). Bit of a grub but obviously relies on them being seen as preferable to us.

He churns and burns a bit quicker and than us… reasonable point about swooping … let’s others do the spadework … obviously a strategy that relies on being tight with the player managers

That's fair enough.

The names are mostly inconsequential. It's the idea of creating a middle in defence that teams don't dominate so easily. We don't seem physically capable of stopping the opposition without throwing 3-4 bodies into the tackle. We don't seem physically or mentally able to impose our will defensively. If the club can find a handful of guys that can do that, not named Hetherington or Horsburgh- sign me up.

But names like Royce Hunt etc don't fit the bill. Unable to play decent minutes, never been a good defender with regularity. I'd be ok with Siafiti. Oregon Kaufusi on a deal half of what Utoikamanu was offered. Sure.

I settle on Hetherington, Horsburgh etc simply because they have proven to be that intimidating force in defence already.
We need , kaufusi , and another backrower from the sharks and horsburgh , that would really gives us some grunt . I just hope we are in for some of these players before the other clubs sign them , and we end up with NSW cup players
