OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

That’s fair.

But surely win/loss ratio is not a reliable indicator of a players ability when they play at this club. That doesn’t separate the Bula’s and Galvin’s from the Nadens and Seyfarth’s in any way.

At 18, to hold your gloves up all season in this side, and look like a future star, imo is exceptional.

Harry Grant had a similar season here.
I’m not judging his win loss ratio.
I judge how well our attack flowed.
I judge his first season as surprising, encouraging and a good beginning. The kid can play. He can handle first grade.

…and FTR, I’m not sold on Harry being elite either.

Could be argued that the club itself doesn't have Galvin top of the list.

Galvin was on the roster last season.

Then the club signed Latu Fainu to play the same role.

Then the club added Luai to play that role too.

Both guys signed for 5 years.

No doubt Galvin has had a good first season. But injury put Fainu behind Galvin. Galvin took that opportunity & ran with it. Fainu hasn't been lucky enough to string enough games together to have that impact.

All good for Galvin.

But that doesn't disprove that the club, with Galvin in hand, signed 2 players to 5 year deals to play his spot.

Is Galvin the beneficiary of recency over ability right now?
NO , u take what u can see on the field , he is the only real attacking weapon we have, if he doesn’t create it nothing happens

I thought they were talking his long term spot was back row or lock?

Benji = 3 finals appearances in 12 years

Best highlights of any player bar none

Best 5/8 if he had a solid team and half back around him

Could he carry a team and manage a game plan ? No he couldn’t hence why we made 3 finals in 12 years

And yes just my opinion

If I had a choice between Benji as my dominant half for 10 yrs or galvin I’d take galvin
Respect your opinion, just don't agree with it. But I do hope your right about Galvin and I hope Galvin stays a tiger but I just have a feeling he will leave.

I was referencing one of your earlier posts which criticised him making references to only three wins.

Our outside backs have been among the worst of any NRL side I’ve ever seen this year and thankfully the club are making arrangements to fix that.

I guess we’ll all see next year whether he’s exceptional or just your average first grader.

Harry is a bloody good player imo. A bloke anyone would have in their side.

Please. Melbourne are the runaway competition leaders, I think Harry is going ok 😂
Take notice of him when the pressure is on. I first noticed it a few years ago, he makes a lot of big mistakes when in possession....going the wrong way, scooting when his backline is set and ready to fire, kicking under the same situations. Theres a reason Ben Hunt is selected as the QLD hooker and plays more minutes every year. He struggled to keep Cheese out of the starting role for a while at Storm as well.

I don't get this obsession that just because he is tall and will probably fill out that he is destined to move into the forwards. Think about his current strengths - he plays both sides of the field, he is vocal and demands the ball at first receiver when he sees an opportunity, he has a bullet long cutout pass on him, he has a decent kicking game, particularly his attacking kicks, he can beat a man on the outside with a bit of guile and slight of hand. That's the DNA of someone who should be in the halves or at a pinch fullback. But he is not quick enough to be fullback.
If you put him at lock, maybe he gets to use his passing game a bit as a link man, but none of the other skillset he has. If you put him in the second row he basically becomes a hole runner with an offload in him at best. As a lock or second rower, he will never kick a ball, call a play, or roam both sides of the field ever again. Gavin Miller is probably the only guy I can think of who has been given that license from those positions.
Galvin is a five eighth. That's where he is best utilized. If they try to force him into the forwards he almost certainly leaves to go to a much smarter club that will play him in the halves.

I’m only regurgitating rumors/speculation. Because of his size I could see him playing a Yeo like role for us if and if he were a team player he would go play where the team wanted him.

I can’t see it being an issue though. The writings on the wall.

Some of us on the West Tigers Forum are not happy with how Harry Grant is playing,
Wow I wish we had anyone playing that bad that could get picked for SOO and Australia
Also one of the toughest blokes going around. I think people confuse Bellamy’s style with other strong clubs. It’s the most boring way to win, but it works.
