Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Signing all of these outside backs is nice and all, but what the hell good will they do without a forward pack. For which atm is non existent in 2025.

I think a couple will get paid out like Tumeth and maybe a Feledy or Naden. But we cant really be paying out 4 or 5.
Tumeth has an option (horrible business) but his manager is Moses so bet your bottom $ he's advised him to take it up. Bud unless we can shift him on reasonable terms we probably have to hold him he could be a state cup hero. The reality is the lowest paid not wanted players could be paid out which may have been why Bateman was shipped off to free up funds which in tern free's up spots.
It will be a tricky juggling act but no doubt its already been most likely decided we just aren't privy to it.
Hopefully paid out of this years cap, our war chest.

We need to offload Bateman. He doesn't stand out in super league.

If Feledy is not rated by the club, then he should be shown the door.

I would be happy to take Fainu or Faatape on smaler contracts assuming we have spots at the bottom end of the top 30. If not dev or T&T contracts.

Apart from players we want to offload like Naden and Sullivan, we have a lot of top 30 spots being taken up by kids who will really need to step up to make us competitive.
Tumeth (why - he is not up to KOE)
Kit Laulilii
Matamua
Miller
Saukuru
Sukkar

Faatugu is only contracted for next year and I think he could be the best of those kids.

I really question which other clubs would have a third of their roster taken up by juniors (regardless how good) that probably need a lot of experience before they are first grade ready? Particularly forwards

Sione Fainu?

I’ll take him in the Top 30 next year … he is Top 17 at the moment

Following the advice of people on here I've started to watch Seyfarth off the ball more, and compare his effort in D with other forwards.

Watching all our forwards and how hard they work to control the ruck or as Marker, he is becoming a player I can really appreciate. Since I've been paying attention he's been getting better at slowing the ruck down using without using his hands and giving away less penalties.

Pole has potential but as another poster correctly pointed out to me he is all attack at the moment, and I now agree.

Stefs effort without the ball is pretty poor, I think he's in for a shock in Melbourne. He doesn't work hard to get to Marker, and even Klemmer moves better than him in defence in general.

Twal professional and a good overall effort, really lacks impact in any one area and his play the ball speed is going backwards.

Papalii not as dynamic as he was at parra but I think he's our best forward based on all these little things + the more noticeable stuff (in the middle, re really did seem to cruise on the edge for us). Johannsen intrigues me as a replacement but small sample size and honestly would rather not keep gambling on players stepping up as plan A, B and C.

Sione I think can be just as good, has a bit of Poles footwork, but a better passing game and a little closer in D, still not there yet but improving.

Samuela could be anything.

I hope we work on strength and fitness, I think our pack looks tired at times and it was ridiculous how small and weak the dragons made us look, and they are nothing special.

2 or 3 FG quality forwards and I'll be happy.

Seyfarth makes my 17 every week as he is hard working does not take a backward step and has heaps of enthusiasm. At this stage of his career i am however not convinced he is a starter each week
I must have the complete opposite view.

I think he’s one of Cronulla’s worst middles and has had a very poor season. I’d take Hazelton, Kafusi, Hunt and Hua Tapau over him.

I live in the shire and have a lot of Cronulla mates they all want him gone. Apparently he’s also not very liked in the locker room…. I think there’s much better options out there personally.
Very good summary, I watched the dogs forwards last night , they look so much fitter than us , they move quicker back into defence when they have made a tackle, there little men make more yards, just with quick leg speed , there’s a bit to be learned by backing down other teams strong points
