What are your thoughts on these players in regards to their future NRL potential with us ?
We know Benji has virtually wiped Naden from any future plans, but I praise him for his attitude of going back to NSW Cup and clearly being in our top 3 players each and every week. Based on this should we possibly keep him for the last year of his contract with us to provide genuine back up to our first choice NRL players ?
TDS keeps impressing which is great to hear.
Johanssen is seemingly carrying our NSW Cup forwards and looks every bit a serious contender for our NRL team.
Feledy keeps impressing and considering he’s only 19, does his ability get overlooked by some of our supporters?
I've re-watched the game & it reinforced a few things as others have mentioned too.
Naden & TDS were the class that won us the game. Miller, Johannssen & also Matamua were good with their carries in the middle.
Feledy has uncanny strength to break tackles in attack, was better in defence this game but still had a couple of poor reads.
We just don't seem to use our wingers well in Cup aside from yardage returns. But both Ngutlik & Taotua have something about them that suggests both could explode in future if given good ball & space.
Sukkar was ok but never stands out whilst Broederlow was one of our worst defensively.
To me, Tavana needs to go back to Flegg next season, really work on his strength & defence at fullback. Too easily brushed or bumped off with limp efforts. I think he went off injured at HT rather than pulled.
Kit needs a big off-season & pre-season if he wants to prove he belongs. Yes he makes some good runs, not consistent enough, but really needs to work on his defence as he has owned some poor miss tackles this season (including yesterday).
What we all have to remember is that Feledy is still 20, Kit 19, Matamua 21, Miller 19 & Broederlow 20. Most of their weaknesses are with DEFENCE.
None of them should be cut at this stage of their development and be given the opportunity to improve their weaknesses over the off & pre-seasons, continue to build in size (Miller cut back), strength, speed & power.
I doubt Declan Casey will be retained. He has been very disappointing on both sides of the ball & with decision making.
But as some have also mentioned, there must be a big ? over the coaching of this group from development & game plan perspectives. Whether that is the coach Aaron Payne himself or higher up the chain needs to be reviewed quickly.
