Just my opinion on players the club is reported as chasing. Some may agree with me others won't.

Hunt....YES
Bird......WHY?
Horsburgh...WTF?

Hunt...He looks the goods and according to Paul Gallen is the strongest/toughest of Cronulla's pack.

Bird doesn't really offer much for the $$ he'll be asking for, there has to be better, younger, fitter (and possibly cheaper) players that could do the job WT are looking at him for.

Horsburgh has a temper mathematically the total of say Seyfarth x Bateman and would only add to the ill discipline Benji is trying to get rid of.
 
People keep saying Horsburgh is a big angry red headed enforcer, does anyone have any links to video where he enforces as i dont think he intimidates anyone? I actually think he is not the full quid.
I was at the Raiders vs Panthers game and I genuinely laughed when he pushed a Penrith player then walked off thinking he was a hard man.
It's a no from me !

Staines while no super star is a solid performer. He got wrongfooted in the last game (for Manly to score) only because his centre rushed out of the defence line, he is usually a great defender, a good kick returner, safe under a high ball and if he got more clear ball could burn most opposition outside backs.

It'll be a risky signing due to how injury prone he is. But offers a bit more versatility and direct ball running than Doueihei.

To be honest, most centres in the NSW Cup can defend better than Douehi, he really can't read an attack and seems to have a very strong aversion to making one on one tackles.

I rate Starford, another player who while he's no superstar he usually performs better than most give him credit for.
He's strong, elusive, doesn't shirk his defence responsibilities like some (AD anyone?). Totally owned the Cowboys on that Leichhardt Oval 11 try demolition of them.

re Jack Bird...

I suspect we are hunting for a solid back.

I don't see where Bird fits if we maintain Faagatu/Staines/etc.
But we need a solid back, one that can defend and bring grit to the side.

I totally get the interest in Bird. He has a decent amount of experience and we need that in our backline.


Yet he has only scored 4 tries, contrast that to Justin Olam's 6!

I don't know why Alexander hates Wests Tigers so much, he never played against them when he was at Penrith or the Warriors (He was pre merger)?
He rarely has anything positive to say about the club.

Can you point me to one post where I said my theory is to sign RCG? haven't mentioned his name once. I like you mate, but you go off half cocked most of the time without the full info at hand. This post being yet another example.

Yes I’m thinking we are sick of our centres leaking points and want someone who can defend, but you make a valid point as a good centre also needs to have enough pace to threaten in attack and it looks like Bird has slowed down too much to be a genuine attacking threat as a centre.
