Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Also something else I heard that was quite interesting…… don’t be surprised if the To’o to Tigers rumours start to heat up again the day after the GF.

Not dead yet.
That's what I heard the other day with RCG going back to Penrith apparently the Panthers want a prop is Klem open to the idea of heading off to Penrith?

We are critical of Utoikamanu's defence.

I'm going to guess this will not be improved if we sign Hunt.

If this was the NFL, Hunt could come in & go off as needed. Unfortunately he needs to contribute both sides of the game. I'm not sold. I don't see what he offers that Pole doesn't already offer.

Tend to agree, rather they went for a younger player like Thompson.

From my inside source who works at Penrith HQ, To’o is an 80% chance of linking with the Tigers in 2025! My source also told me that he is keen to wait on how they go this year before making a final call! Make of that what you will! IMO I think if they don’t win the premiership this year, To’o is a 🐯
Is it true Penrith are after a Prop ?

Tamou and Klem were signed to be leaders both on and off the field, being professionals etc. Neither of them really worked out.

If we're signing Frizz for his leadership then max his contract to 300k+bonuses
Frizell’s leg speed is still up there and he’s incredibly fit.

Klemmer and Tamou were always big units but on the slower side.

I'm not sold on the signing one little bit. However if the current powers at be see it otherwise I'll have a positive outlook on it.

I know he has come off the bench for the Sharks, but I wouldn't mind him playing 2 stints. Start the game and go hard. Replaced by a longer minute player at the appropriate time. Some games he made need to come off after 15 minutes, some 20 or 25 minutes. Give him the responsibility of getting us going forward from the outset and see how he responds.
Sharks use him coming on after 25 to 30 minutes, against tiring forwards

Barry O’Farrell’s second coming as Wests Tigers chairman is on shaky ground with the board refusing to reappoint him and asking the former NSW premier to reapply for his job if he wants to remain at the helm.
Sources with knowledge of the situation talking under the condition of anonymity due to confidentiality told this masthead that O’Farrell is considering walking away from the club if the majority owner, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG), does not follow through on some of the key recommendations from last year’s Crawford-Barnier report.

O’Farrell was appointed as interim chairman at the end of last year on a six-month term as part of a major overhaul of the club’s board following an external review that led to the ousting of former chairman Lee Hagipantelis and ex-Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe.
O’Farrell was meant to oversee the introduction of four new independent directors to the Wests Tigers board, however, a change of leadership at the Holman Barnes Group is now threatening to descend into a messy split.

When contacted by this masthead, O’Farrell declined to comment.
The four new directors were meant to be appointed by May and join the three representatives (Balmain, Wests Magpies and HBG) on the Wests Tigers board.

However, the ascension of Julie Romero to chairman of the Holman Barnes Group in February has resulted in Geoff Squires (Magpies) and Dave Gilbert (HBG) being replaced by former Tigers director Dennis Burgess and Steve Montgomery respectively. Romero did not respond to calls.

The appointment of four new independent directors has been delayed and O’Farrell is no guarantee to earn a reappointment after being told he would have to apply to an external recruitment company.

O’Farrell is now contemplating his future at the club and could relinquish the role if the Holman Barnes Group does not follow through on its pledge to restructure the Wests Tigers board.

New chief executive Shane Richardson has signed a four-year deal with the Tigers, which commenced in July, despite only being appointed as the interim boss

I have to be honest and say I haven’t watched Hunt that closely, but there is no point comparing him to Stef. Stef is gone. We should be comparing him to the players that we have for next year. The question is does he make next years squad stronger?

His skill set is impact focus so hopefully rotational wise we use him that way.

We need more in the front row than him though which hopefully comes in 26 unless a magic release happens.
We need some workhorses Pat Carrigan type forwards. Like Fulton and Heighno were for us back in the day. Impact props are great but you can't base a pack on them. We need to find some solid 80 min no-nonsense work horses.

I’m just speculating but if we got a team like this in 2025 look out 🔥

1. Turuva
2. To’o
3. Bula
4. Olam
5. Skelton
6. Galvin
7. Luai
8. Horsbrough
9. Api
10. Sione Fainu
11. Sam Fainu
12. Frizell/Lucas
13. Hetherington
14. Mason
15. Pole
16. Hunt
17. Seyfarth
Do u think we could squeeze them new players in under our cap

Yes , put that’s not hard

Tigers stun Manly with heroic comeback

NRL: Manly blew a big lead to lose 34-26 and effectively cost themselves any chance of a top-four finish as the Tigers went a long way to avoiding a third-straight wooden spoon.

Wests Tigers critic Ben Elias emerged from a specially-convened two-hour peace meeting with club chief executive Shane Richardson and captain Api Koroisau to declare: “I’m now a believer.”
In a gesture of goodwill, Richardson invited Elias into the club’s high performance centre at Concord on Wednesday morning where the pair discussed all aspects of the club’s operations.
Elias, inducted into the NRL’s Hall of Fame last week, also spoke with star hooker and captain Koroisau.
This masthead understands Richardson also reached out and had coffee with another Tigers legend, Steve ‘Blocker’ Roach, on Monday.
While admitting he had become “frustrated” with the club’s performances as they battled to avoid a third straight wooden spoon, Elias has been given a new perspective on the club and has claimed “the future is extremely bright.”
Elias has regularly called out Wests Tigers for their on-field and administrative failures.
“I have been a critic of the club, of course,” Elias said. “A lot of things have frustrated me and the fans.

“Have we butted heads? Yes, but I have always tried to offer constructive criticism and I always have the Tigers at heart.
“I never want to do anything to hurt the Tigers and offered criticism which I thought could help better my beloved club.

“Shane rang and asked me to come in and see him. We met for more than two hours. It was really constructive and my views have certainly changed.
“You don’t get anyone higher than the CEO and I walked away full of positive belief in the organisation and the future looks extremely bright.

“We discussed all the young players coming through at length. Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva will be there next year so all fans should stick tight.
“After scoping what they are doing, it’s very, very encouraging.
“I also had a chat with Api, the captain. That was also a good catch-up. The facilities there at Concord are the best in Australia.”
Richardson added: “Benny is a resource we shouldn’t ignore.”

Wests Tigers have the bye this weekend as the club fights desperately hard to dodge another wooden spoon.
Elias revealed often conversations he had with Richardson about the club’s immediate and long-term future.
“We looked at the future possibilities for this great club,” Elias said. “It’s a new chapter in a new book. Everything is extremely positive.
“We also spoke about the club’s structure and I’m very excited with what is happening.
“Fans might need to be patient just a little bit longer but good times lie ahead for Wests Tigers.
“I also spoke with some of the younger players at the club and I reckon they will develop into first-string NRL players in coming years.”
Wonder if Benny or Blocker or both are being considered for the independant board positions

Benny is a simple man. 1-1 with the CEO. Consider the ego stroked

I would think another premiership win is just as likely to make him want to leave. New challenge etc.
