SMH Article 'We’ve lost faith in them’: Balmain consider shock exit from Wests Tigers merger

Id say there has been trouble brewing in paradise since the HBG board ousted Tony A after the review who was a supporter of the recommendations with no guarantee that the current chair and her deputy as as supportive.

All boards have factions and you don't have to be a merged club to have a divided board - the Bulldogs and Parramatta have both been through this. Sort of makes sense now why Richardson met with Elias who may have some influence in easing the Balmain side on the direction of the club.
 
I'm nearly 52 and from the Balmain side of the merger

And the NRL needs to tell them to go to hell

The reality is if they make the decision to exit our board activities halt which impacts business decisions & recruitment.

Here we go. I've been bloody worried about this the last few days (honestly, ever since March) since this faction within HBG took over.

Here's the 4 people who should be everyone's targets.

  • Dennis Burgess (I think you can guess...)
  • Vince Tropiano (2nd from Right)
  • Stephen Montgomery (3rd Left)
These 4 hold the power at our club unfortunately and, looking at their profiles, we couldn't be in worse hands.

This mob of amateurs ousted the 3 that were trying to do the right thing. The balmain guy is just playing the only card he has - the vitriol needs to be directed at HBG.

If you know these people or see them on the street, we need to let them know that enough is enough and remind them, that they are CUSTODIANS. They owe it to the members of HBG and to the broader community to realise their limitations.

Do the right thing and follow the report. I know that seems hard for these guys, but that's all they have to do.

If anything get rid of balmain tigers AND wests magpies; rebrand EVERYTHING as wests tigers. The issue is the whole us and them mentality.

We as supporters, no matter what side you originated from, have been through too much to watch our team disapate into nothing.

Who ever is behind this is an absolute moron throwing their toys out of the cot.

“The current licensing agreement between the NRL and its clubs expires at the end of the season.”
And has been kept extremely quiet this whole time.
All the talk about the JV having a licensee that states Wests and Balmain have an NRL license as Wests Tigers.
I wonder what good that is when a renewal comes around.

Every clubs licence expires every 5 years … what am I missing ?

HBG have been a pretty big reason for this club being the shit show that it is over the last 10 years and they've just found a way to re-install the muppets that were ousted in the first place.

I think the frustration runs deep, to the point Elias was putting together an offer to buy the club from HBG if you can remember.

It's clear we have a very different governance structure than other teams and incompetence is difficult to remove at that level at our club.
