The independent directors were appointed when Balmain borrowed money from the NRL, when the loan was paid back by Wests Ashfield part of the deal was they would get 4 seats Balmain 1 Wests Magpies 1 with 2 independents.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know that part. In saying that, even if it turns out to be hard to remove them, I feel slightly safer with independent directors coming in than without them. HBG having full control hasn’t exactly gone exceptionally well.

Wow, given that one of the independents, James Myatt, listed by cochise on a previous thread, has listed himself as representing Balmain on the Wests Tigers board on his LinkedIn I’m gonna say no. The other independent was Lee Hagipantelis.

I did read that the people who are supposed to be appointing the directors have suggested O’Farrell remain as chairperson and 2 of the remaining 3 independent directors are women.

Yea right - so who is this high ranking official. Chammas is full of it. The only person he actually names is Leo who has nothing to do with WT.

Not saying it is but wouldn’t be surprised if Richo is pulling some strings behind the scene to fix up these issues. I think HBG really regrets hiring someone like Richo, he’s a man you simply gets things done by any means, even if it involves people losing their jobs. I think hiring him was a lose-lose for HBG as if they sack him well there will be serious rebellion from the fans and if he stays well it threatens their jobs.

I think the only thing Wests Tigers supporters (not Wests or Balmain) should be worried about is the review not being implemented and the old HBG crew getting back together to stifle any recent/future progress. Just implement the review as approved.

Absolutely this should be the focus. Everything else is just noise.

Think Marina Go was independent as well… But she was also Balmain aligned I believe.

I’m just glad as a supporter base, we’re all aligned in seeing our governance for what it really is… mostly a bunch of nobodies deeply aligned to a pre merger club all trying to one up each other… then blaming each other because we can’t win.

Back in the old days, the Balmain kids would have backed the Balmain suits to the death and same with the old Magpies…

These days, we just want a Wests Tigers team we can be proud of, and to get rid of the clowns using us as a resume footnote…

Yes I agree Balmain certainly had troubles, hence the merger.

What about HBG and the south west

Make no mistake, the Balmain board can pretend all they like… but to be where they are now with all that they’d had - they should all be far too embarrassed to speak.
