SMH Article 'We’ve lost faith in them’: Balmain consider shock exit from Wests Tigers merger

Now Chammas claiming a high profile Wests Tigers member has gone to the N.R.L alleging that there's a push to resurrect the Magpies. If it's true I wish the dinosaurs from both Wests and Balmain would just bugger off.
These guys are idiots no one cares about the wests tigers let alone two old rubbish clubs that were even worse than what we are now. It’s fantastic we honour our history but these old buggers need to grow up and stop acting like children

That’s facts:
Wests- have money but were a bogus RL team
Balmain- have no money and were a slightly better RL team

Neither side is better than the other! we are wests tigers stop holding each other at ransom and work on developing THIS club into a powerhouse

We’ve been a laughing stock for too long get rid of the fossils within the club

No one truly gives up control of something they own… do they?
For a heck of a lot of people $$$ talk and $$$ mean power, just ask Donald Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon.
How many marriages unravel due to one partner having more $$$ than the other.
$$$ can be a blessing if used properly or a curse if not used in the right way.

If these so called 4 independent directors are appointed, who has the power to remove them if they are no good. More importantly, who is appointing them?
If they're no good? The HBG board are the most amateur and dysfunctional board in the Australian sporting landscape. It's simply not possible that an external recruitment of independents leads to a worse outcome. Unless they decide to promote the 'sausage on a roll - hotdog guy' to the board then we can only move forwards

HBG encompass the whole group including licensed clubs. It is meant to be inclusive, for all parties......probably their strongest suite. And they are stable, no way our identity changes or we abandon our heartlands and they are successful financially. Just need fresh experienced faces.

But anyway all directors of any business get hired and fired by the shareholders.

The right of dismissal must exist otherwise they can effectively take over as a block in theory.

Nothing to see there.

personally i wish Balmain would p o so we could get on with it,2 have some dropkick mouth off about signing his logo over 2 the far east grates my goat-n she dont like it.didnt the NRL buy out all rights 2 logo;s-correction ,clubs sold their soles 4 ,any intellectual property etc ?? via the 1st rnd of club grants(welfare on a stick)

How do you think people like Baird, Perrottet, Berejiklian and other ex-Premiers get salaried jobs after politics? They are interviewed. It shouldn't be above BOF.
It’s a little disrespectful to tell Barry if he wants to stay in the job he’s to apply for it at an external recruitment company. It smells like the HGB team have another musician primed to take over.

Look I don't care who the is on the Wests Tigers Board as long as they have healthy and appropriate interactions with the Chief Exec, they don't leak to media, and they don't interefere with the football department in matters that they shouldn't.

One thing that you have to remember about the report is that it actually strips away a lot of power and authority from the Wests Tigers board in comparison to how it existed in the past.
"Crawford-Barnier have recommended Wests Ashfield separate out reserve powers for the benefit of their 90 per cent ownership of the NRL franchise. The powers hived off are considerable, with Wests Ashfield controlling the purse strings and directorships.

The new board will increase from four to seven after six months, with the appointment of three independents. It cannot borrow money; it can’t sell the business or change the terms of the licence.
Wests Ashfield retains hire and fire rights of the directors of the NRL franchise, meaning under-performing ones are replaced."

This is certainly not straightforward stuff. Of course a few of the old guard fighting the old wars from 25 years ago are going to flex and flourish throughout this process. Also I think with the volume of wooden spoons we've had and with a temporary board and the results of the report etc, I think some more of the 'hawkish' Wests Magpies directors see this as their chance to try and upend what began as a fair and transparent indipendent review to try resurrect a club that has already failed twice before. Roy Masters hinted at that in same SMH article i'm quoting from above. They do have WAY more power now after all.

But at the same time, the good results have aleady been accomplished mostly. Let's not forget all the amazing things that have happened in the last 12 months wrt to pathways, CEO, recuitment, honesty of memberships, Lee and Justin gone.
