Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I saw someone say horsburgh was 3rd man in and ineffective, but I saw him make 2 or 3 good offloads for 2nd phase and competitive. Id be keen if we picked him up.
I wrote that he was second and third man into tackles.. It is difficult to miss a tackle when a team mate or two is there before you. He did stop Watson or Keary when he was on his line and one of them ran directly towards him so made a ball and all tackle. Compare his game to Tapine. It was like the consummate professional v amateur hour. I hope he is nowhere near WTs.

It's my guess is that batboy is saying those top clubs wouldn't take To'o for a large price tag. I think that's what he is saying, maybe he can clarify. Personally I agree that for any price over 650k they wouldn't take him. However under 600k they absolutely would.

Your guess is wrong. He clarified many times. Apparently the Storm and Roosters would have no interest in To’o.

So yes Storm would apparently prefer Dean Ieremia

Canberra have beaten Penrith and Roosters the last 2 weeks since Horsburgh came back, there is a reason for this.
Comparing him to Tapine is unfair and also not like for like.
Tapine is a million dollar prop, top 2 in the comp, Horsburgh is not getting that much per season

Horsburgh also hasn't hit his peak yet but has potential. It's up to the team to unlock that

Tapine.

Who did Ricky bring on immediately when the Raiders were in trouble? Here is a hint, it wasn't Horsburgh.
That is a ridiculous argument, I thought you were better than that.
That is like saying Webster turns to AFB over any other prop, Walters turns to Haas or Robinson turns to Collins, Seibold turns to Paseka, or Bellamy turns to NAS, every coach goes to their number 1 when in trouble

If WTs sign Horsburgh we deserve everything we get. I don't believe he is the player we need. I am strongly supportive of WTs recruitment - Turuva, Luai, Skelton and I hope the WTs can bring in Tallis Duncan. He has consistently played well in a struggling Souths side and this round put a great hit on one of the Panthers' forwards. There is lots of upside to his game which imo will grow at WTs. Kobe Hethrington from the Broncos is also a fine player.

Funny footy facts;
- Arthur Laundy, pub baron and major Dogs sponsor, was actually a long time Tigers supporter, and only got involved with Canterbury coz he was a mate of Dean Pay. Ironically the day he agreed to sign on as sponsor, Pay was sacked by the Board.
He said he was sick of the Dogs coming last so was advised by the Board the best thing he could do was hire Phil Gould.
Initial meeting was held at Percy’s Hotel opposite North Sydney Oval. Whilst Gould was involved with the Warriors at that time, he accepted the job at a club he knew and loved.
Gould then approached Ciraldo at Penrith but, at that stage, Ciraldo was in heavy negotiation with the Wests Tigers but eventually was totally underwhelmed by the people and systems at WT and when he met with the Laundys and Gould he felt much more comfortable.
So Dogs got a keen major sponsor, Gould and Ciraldo. Timing is everything eh !
Of course we had Brydens, Pascoe and little else, now I wonder why he chose the Dogs !!!

Chooks vs Raiders.

Horsburgh - 39 tackles - 0 missed. That's what we need. He does look to be carrying a few kegs. A solid preseason & change of scenery, I think he had a big season next year where he lands. Hopefully us!

My biggest take out of the game was the Sam Walker injury. The Chooks have gone & bought Chad Townsend on a discount deal as their reserve half. I would not be surprised if Sullivan or Douiehi would be on the Chooks radar for 2025 now. Walker will be lucky to play a game next year.
I thought Horsburg was enormous today, forget his unfit looks, he was all effort in attack and Defence

Hey Batboy,

Interesting to hear you opinion on this. It’s a healthy reminder that people can see two things so very very differently. Without being rude, my view maybe the direct opposite of yours in the vast majority of your To’o points.
knock it off Mccarry , lol, social media doesnt run on sane thought.4o% r 4 ,40% r against ,15% c both sides n 5% wont make their minds up,n 85% spend 2 much time tapping keyboards wanting 2b heard

I honestly don’t think we’d have enough money to throw at him to convince him to come over with how much we’re already spending on API, Jarome and others. Sunia Turuva probably cost us a chunk too. In any case it’s irrelevant right now, we can’t approach To’o for another 2 and a bit years.
We still have 2-3 million to spend on maybe 4 spots. Each signing will be on 600-800k
