OFFICIAL Royce Hunt #298

Richo knows what we need so trust him.
I like Hunts aggressive game which we lack.
He is pretty quick at play the balls for a big guy.
Not concerned about fitness as he is no P Hass and more of an impact player.
If he can teach some of our forwards to be be more aggressive (Seyfarth don't need it); he's worth it. Sheens coached mongrel out of the majority of our forwards.

I think his lack of minutes is due to the Sharks having multiple options in the middle. They have mobile blokes and hard working middles. If they need more size then Royce comes on. I think that role allows him to play at a heavier weight. I think he might trim a couple of kgs off to play more minutes next year. He is very impressive at “shutting the gate” when he is on, something that bigger blokes usually struggle to do. Good signing. Welcome big fella

The powerful-running 29-year-old has been granted a release from the final year of his contract with the Sharks and will join Wests Tigers at the end of this season.

A Samoa international, Hunt has played 70 games for the Sharks over the past five seasons after making his NRL debut with the Canberra Raiders in 2017.

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall says Hunt will be a welcome addition to the club.
“Royce is a great leader who will be invaluable in assisting us with the development of the younger players at the club,” said Marshall.
He’s a tough and uncompromising middle, and more importantly, he’s a good human.

“We look forward to welcoming Royce and his family to our club.”

What are your thoughts?
Happy with this signing. Although I think we are one big signing away from being a bit more consistent. Still a few gaps in the team. Right second row, one prop position to be pack leader, and a right centre. Don't think Hunt is a pack leader but more of a momentum changer like Leniu. Anyone know how much per year?

Jack or Kobe?

Well said mate , the positive has started with our recent wins , now for Friday Night we win and go on a break and back in preseason with a new look about the place with Luai who will be bouncing off the walls wanting to own this team , Galvin will relish it and we now have some aggressive punch added , couple more good news signings and we will be a very tidy team next year ,

I like the signing. Despite limited minutes to be played he fills a gap in our team, being a big physical prop to get you rolling. You could see Hunt and then Pole providing great momentum for Luai and Galvin/Latu to play off. Hunt doesn’t have to do it all himself he can play a role and be a piece to the puzzle.

He's a much more aggressive prop than our current bunch. Not saying much but he always bashed through our pack. He's good in a mix of props, but we need that hard working high energy defensively elite prop still. In Pole, Fainu and now Hunt we have impact running but none seem particularly good defensively and it's a liability in pole's game. I hope hunt can continue the agro with us, seem like everyone loses spark when we sign them.

Also, even with limited minutes he's much better than Stef's production this year. Maybe Melbourne will get more out of Stef, but the one we had was bog average.

Don't mind it. Tell him he's graduated & upgrade him 2

Pole more or less same post contact metres / stats as Stef, half the salary cap. Win. Add Hunt and production in the middle is looking up.
