Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I wouldn't be surprised if Stefano goes on to a great career but we would be stupid to pay him $900k to stay here when he's not in the top ten props in the game. Many would say that's because we don't develop our forwards, but Pole, Seyfarth and two Fainus all look better than they did six months ago.

As for Blore, it's like casual viewers can only see the positives at first. He's no better or worse than last season. It's like Esan Marsters all over again.
Blore dad told a mate of mine that Blore hadn’t experienced a pre season like melbourne … was the hardest ever… said that’s why tigers struggle. Anyway will be interesting to see Steff with a tougher fitness regime -

Pete moussa is the head of high performance and still have another job as a Physio …

Anyway - just some news

Imagine I told you we had signed Stef, Bateman and Ipaps for next year. People would say we’re going to make the 8 for sure.

Instead everyone is trying to justify that Hunt, bird and horsborough are going to make us better next year

lol
I wouldn’t even be happy if we signed Bateman to our Woman’s team.
He’s now showing his true form and struggling back in the UK, the further he is away from us the better.

I never really understand this. I mean, if it was just a question of doing a really hard pre-season surely everyone would just do that? It's not like it's a trade secret or something. I suspect Melbourne are actually doing lots and lots of things right, it's just that the ones that involve working really hard get noticed because that's the kind of thing fans (a) understand and (b) put most weight on.

The other thing is, presumably Blore did at least one preaseason with Penrith - I know he didn't play first grade there but he was in their setup aged 19-20 so would have done preseason. If that was also much less demanding than Melbourne it suggests to me how hard you get worked in the preseason isn't actually that much of a guide to success, seeing as how Penrith seem to have managed to be competitive in recent years.

Took the words out of my mouth re Blore at Penrith.
I think at the end of the day it's the standards set by the players that determine the difficulty.
On top of this it's building combinations and creating internal competition for spots, too many walk up starts in years gone, too many vets coasting on reputation, here's hoping we can make an adjustment next year.

Yeah I have heard similar by players that have left and seem to have improved. The common theme is they weren’t “ fit enough” here. That has to change if we are to climb the ladder.

Dunno - assume like everything - every club is trying the best - some just do it better - comes down to coaches in certain areas

Wasn’t Blore injured for the start of our preseason and then went to Melbourne half way through
If so of course he would be behind the 8 ball
