SMH Article 'We’ve lost faith in them’: Balmain consider shock exit from Wests Tigers merger

Ill say one thing for Pascoe.

He kept the Balmain vs Wests rubbish out of the club.

The only problem with the past board is their approval of the crazy return of Sheens + Benji.

We need to fix our training/club hardening. Sironen was the last person who seemed to get anything out of our forward pack. I mean seriously we had Nathan Cayless here toughening people up and it did not have an effect.

A training plan is what we need. Hire a team to do it and tell the board to worry about the finances and stay out of it's way.

This is the most ignorant post EVER on this forum!!

(AND after some of the enlightened discourse on the HBG thread - the bar is lower than ever!!_

The ONLY problem with Pascoe & the previous Board was the return of Sheens....?????

PS - Sironen never worked as a trainer....

Do you mean the late Steve Folkes?

Cayless bringing toughness was a joke - his best mates are pillows Vella and Hindy!!

Anyone else feels like a skills matrix sounds a bit MBA/university wank?
A bit like kpi's?

Really it isn't thst hard?
Does the applicant seem a idiot? Dont appoint.
Does the applicant have skills that will benefit the business? Short list them
Will the applicant make decisions based on what is best for the wests tigers? Shortlist them still.
I have a MBA..

Sad 😔

Do you realise that the entire HBG board would be disqualified based on the first criteria. And if somehow someone passes them on the idiot test then the skills test rules them out.
The Matrix must apply to all board members

I wonder how many other clubs use a skills matrix?
Really cant see Nick or Rusty or other clubs using one tbh
If a board is functioning well and getting results then it's not necessary. If a board has been a disaster zone for over a decade and shows no improvement, and keeps recycling the same garbage then yes, it's necessary, for everyone on the board....

Lee jumps straight on SEN to knife Stapleton today, good to see his modus operandi hasn’t changed 😂

I played devils advocate for that guy for quite some time. I regret it. He's a cringe pondscum loser. Getting involved in something like private email chains between people, on conversations that you're not involved in so you can be on the radio, and making claims that press releases are false unless they are signed by the CEO and Chairman, utter nonsense. He bloody loves it too he's like a pig in sh1`t doing that stuff.

He's the absolute worst of a bad bunch. Can you imagine the kind of nonsense that went on with him as Chairman of our club?? Thank god thats over.

The successful clubs would be hiring skills as opposed to nepotism.
The fact that ”skills matrix“ has suddenly become a buzzword at Wests Tigers is concerning. 😂
Just shows what a shit fight we have been as a club . That the idea of skills being a variable in hiring someone , and it being such a kick to the balls for these people is another case of “what year is it “ for this club .
We have honestly been dragged kicking and screaming , literally in some cases , into the year 2024 .
It’s pretty embarrassing .
And the fact these people don’t have that embarrassment also proves how they are just not skilled for thier position/ not very bright .

Maybe have a listen again. It's more about the review being approved thus far.

Keep in mind that the board composition was different a month ago, so the prior approvals were a different bunch of people. So that movement may have triggered concern given there was no need for change, unless they wanted different decisions made.

Again, no one really cares about Balmain. They have no influence or power. If they were to pull out of this JV, I'm pretty sure HBG would just take their share... and I'm an old balmain supporter.

If HBG does the right thing as per Richardson on those last 2 recommendations. All this becomes an issue of the past and we'll grow into a powerhouse

I did have another listen and disagree.

According to his words what remains has yet to be executed due to the technicalities of the drafting of the new shareholder deed which will be passed.

According to Shane the board has seen the draft deeds and are happy with them.

So, following on from that once the deeds are completed and signed off they will apparently discuss who selects the independents and hence appoint them.

Now as far as I am aware there is nothing in the review recommendations, which are non binding anyway precluding HBG as the controlling interest in selecting from the agency short-list anyway so it shouldn't be a factor.

Given that where is the justification or proportionality for the contents of the article on PG1 of this thread ?

Spartan, apologies mate I too upvoted that post........don't take it out of context. You know these days sometimes I get asked which private school I went to.........in the 80s. Half the people on most university campuses barely speak English so you know what I mean.

But anyway with your MBA you pass the skills-mattttttrix.
In all seriousness you should apply as an independent. Couldn't think of a more fair minded bloke.

Just don't shrink the magpie on the sleeve.😉

The last part is a good question. That's where we need to read between the lines. I'm afraid I have to disagree with your analysis above and that's where I think the answer to your question lies.

Let me clear though. Leo was wrong to take it public.

I’ll save everyone a listen.

Chammas reckons Richardson’s comments in the CEO Update were to put a rocket squarely up Romero’s arse.

he also thinks Richardson will get his desired outcome and BOF will remain chair and the board members will be truly independent.

I think that’s partially true, but not completely. there’s a bit of ego there on Chammas’ side and I think HBG and WT have just taken a little while, as per what Richardson said in his update.

best part of the episode is finding out Richardson decomissioned the Centre of Excellence barber on his first day in the job
