Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1. Getting Olam vibes here
2. I like that
3. Like that even more … but there are various issues to work through including his $700k salary for next year and the year after right? No SuperLeague team is paying him that
I've heard that Bateman is just adamant that he doesn't want to come back. He just wants to cancel his contract. Means we won't be due having to pay him

We are supposedly close to signing Montoya and we are supposedly looking for at least one, possibly two more middles in Corey Horsburgh and Kobe Hetherington.
I don’t see either of those two coming, but would be happy if they do, particularly Hetherington who I believe is very under rated.
Saifiti dominated the Storm forward pack a few weeks back, was very good again today. He is only 28 keeps himself in very good condition and would be a great addition if slightly subsidised by the Knights.
Williams is off contract, obviously looking for a starting spot and a pay rise otherwise he would have already te-signed with the Sharks.
Agree with everything you have said in the above mate.
I would take Saifiti in a heart beat - him/Hunt and Klemmer in rotation is decent and improves the go forward.
Hetherington and Williams are the 2 guys you get to add toughness, big game minutes and a culture of hard work and grit.
Massive fan of Williams who could be the guy who transform the forward pack by giving him the opportunity to lead like a Paul Gallen or Dale Finucane.
Williams is the type of player that the Storm go and get and transform him into a superstar. This is the type of player that can change the work ethic of the club and leave a lasting impression throughout the club while not breaking the bank.

400k is not a high salary under the current cap. It's less than 1/30th of the current cap meaning it's below average salary
It's too high for a 30yo to not make the run on 13.
Without getting too mathematical, medians make more sense than averages when you've got 1 player making 1,2mill

Agree completely.

I think we are a hard fanbase to please atm.

Not every signing will be a top tier signing.

We want a squad with genuine first grade depth. This is the perfect signing to meet that criteria.

He is currently ahead of faatape and feledy. Competition for spots is a necessity.
Montoya would be ahead of Tupou, Toa, Faatape, Staines, Naden, Feledy, Alaimalo, Laulilii.
If we're looking at him as a backup player, and he's better than basically every back we had this year, then we're tracking well....
Honestly prior further how terrible our roster is. Montoya would have been our best winger this season by a country mile, but yes there's only room for him if we're offloading a few of the names listed earlier

Looking at off contract players for next year Jack Williams & Brodie Jones are the pick of the back rowers. Wouldn't mind one of them as well as Horsburgh & Hetherington.

Backs sorted now let's sort the forwards.
It doesn't matter who's off contract. Most players we can sign won't be off contract, they get released early. Just like we'll release players

Idk if this would be a particularly good endorsement. This would make him the third player this season who has walked out on his contract. Idk how that’s a good outcome for Benji.
Was being facetious....Bateman singularly we wanted to get rid of...a poor buy
,and Benji clearly played a role.To walk away from significant $ entitlement says something
The other 2 were regrettable losses, seeking more success bot importantly better coaching, which go hand in hand
Not good for Benji
