Politely completely disagree Tedesco is the best fullback in 2024; He had a great game, but he's long been overtaken by Walsh, Edwards, Ponga et al.

Lucky to be top 5 imo, but do agree letting him leave was one of the worst moments in tigers history. 😦

The more we hear about players going on to do better in greener pastures (understand in this case it's QCup - but Simpkins was named prop of the year!), the more I lean to the environment at WT not getting the best out of these players.

Ultimately, it's up to these kids to apply themselves, but they need direction from senior players, and it just doesn't seem to exist at the club. Now, the roster is younger and less experienced than ever.

Hopefully Luai comes in, is a prominent voice, and raises the standards and changes the culture in the dressing room.

I don't think he's any better a player at Manly but he sure looks like it.

Benji always had a high opinion/rated Talau. I think he has gotten better as he has had an injury free run. Interesting that he is playing wing successfully though. I think we tried him there with moderate success. Seems to have found a home there. Aside from his try scoring (18 tries) he makes good yard with his carries.

Woods literally started running backwards into the D. Before he left to. It start after his origin failures. I reckon the front on man-up-ness of origin scared him for the rest of his career, and he became Dora.

At 31, he's definitely getting to the back end, but he's been incredibly consistent over his career. He might not be the most flashy these days, but he has very well rounded game.

Edwards is up there with Tedesco in that you are going to get what it says on the tin so to speak.

Walsh and Ponga are more dynamic, but still come up rocks and diamonds at times.

I think all players mentioned are high quality. It just depends on what type of player fits in your team and what job they need to do.

I also agree that our forwards are currently a lot weaker than this season.
I really don’t think the likelihood of cutting ties with Bateman hurts us much, but in saying that we need to recruit at least one edge back rower, whether it be a starter or depth, otherwise we are asking too much too soon of our emerging players.
If we sign Kobe Hertherington or Jack Williams, then we adequately cover 13, but I still worry we are also one quality, intimidating big man short. That’s where the more I think about it, the more I think RCG would be very handy if we could somehow get him for 2 years at a decent price.
Then we no doubt need a quality outside back, Montoya would do.

You're 💯 correct about "intimidating big man" after last night's effort by JWH.
I'd be happy for Wests to throw some big $$$ at him to play for us next year.

Walsh could be anything, just makes way too many errors.
Ponga is excellent, I think of him as a hybrid 5/8.
Walsh is effective and safe, not flashy.

But I’m with @bptiger 0 .Teddy is No1. He has all the great attributes of a fullback without any drawbacks.
Still, I loathe him because he left us. He is still a match winner and his loss we’ll just never live down.

It should also be noted that Teddy's team were 1st in attack this year and 5th best in defence. Im not sure how many points Teddy has been banking but Ill be surprised if he doesnt get Dally M fullback of the year.
Teddy is no.1 in this group for durability, try assists, linebreaks, line break assists, run meters and tackle breaks. He is second for tries scored and kick return meters. Although he is being beat in some areas of his game - such as bomb defusals, he is stil no.1 overall and will likely be the Kangaroo fullback.

So what’s the go with RCG anyway? He’s leaving Parramatta, turned St George down but wants to remain in Sydney. Seemingly no interest from us so who is he looking at? Roosters, Dogs, a return to Penrith maybe? I’ve heard nothing since he turned St George down. We should go all out to land him I reckon. He would top off our pack nicely, though he probably doesn’t want to come here.

On a one or two year deal he could be good for Us.

From memory (which is not as good as it used to be) when we played the donkeys Parker tried to bully some of our smaller players and Dane Laurie (our original player not the second) stood up to him and looked like he was going to kill him,Parker went pasty faced voided his bladder and bowels at the same time and backed away at the rate of knots..
