Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Had a real good look at Lodge last nite..hard runner but no footwork whatsover..not in itself a deal breaker.
..abrasive and confrontational..big tick...
.but shocking lateral mobility in defence..very easy for nimble halves to step around unless we have a comprehensive system to back him up

Yesterdays style of player when the game was slower Im afraid
Gone off my list

At 31, he's definitely getting to the back end, but he's been incredibly consistent over his career. He might not be the most flashy these days, but he has very well rounded game.

Edwards is up there with Tedesco in that you are going to get what it says on the tin so to speak.

Walsh and Ponga are more dynamic, but still come up rocks and diamonds at times.

I think all players mentioned are high quality. It just depends on what type of player fits in your team and what job they need to do.
Subjective as well.

You could argue he is the best player to have even played for the tigers. I think so. The tigers literally lost a future Australian captain.

I remember when he was at the tigers I almost winced every time he had the ball because I didn't want him to do another acl.

Thankfully he has had a great career. Shame it wasn't all at wests.

This is a story about a man named Jed .. a poor mountaineer who barely kept his family fed .. then one day he was shooting at some food .. then up through the ground came a girl in the nude ..

Ok let’s leave it there before I get into trouble .. 🤪🤪

Some important stats from 2024:

It should also be noted that Teddy's team were 1st in attack this year and 5th best in defence. Im not sure how many points Teddy has been banking but Ill be surprised if he doesnt get Dally M fullback of the year.
Teddy is no.1 in this group for durability, try assists, linebreaks, line break assists, run meters and tackle breaks. He is second for tries scored and kick return meters. Although he is being beat in some areas of his game - such as bomb defusals, he is stil no.1 overall and will likely be the Kangaroo fullback.
Can't argue with facts.

But I kind of will anyway...

It is incontrovertible Tedesco ran for the most metres this season.

It's also true that although playing in the top ranked team in attack he scored 14 tries in 22 games, whereas turbo played 6 games less and scored 3 more....

The only stats I would take into account are the per game ones - which do show he is head off the class. Just.

Highlighting a stat such as linebreaks (over the entire season) misleads anyone seeing it, as they only see it shows Tedesco has made 8 more linebreaks than Walsh.

What isn't noticed by 99% of people looking at this particular stat is that Tedesco also played 8 games more than Walsh.

He is actually behind Ponga in linebreaks per game.

Here are the categories he topped per game.

- Try assists per game he is 0.01 ahead of turbo.

- Linebreak assists per game he is 0.06 ahead of Walsh.

- Tackle breaks per game he is 0.23 ahead of Edwards.

There are a myriad of ways to show statistics visually to elicit the desired impression/outcome. Inverting the y axis on a graph is an oldie but a goodie...

Yes, but you have to remember he played more games because all those other guys are busted. He was busted last year and was written off, only to return this year and prove he is not done yet.
I included the per game stats for comparitive reasons, however they cant be taken as exclusively proving others are better. They may not have kept their rate up had they played more games and stayed in front. They also may not have made up the deficit to him had they played more games.
At the end of the day, I was responding to your claim that he is not in the top 5 fullbacks for this season. I think this isnt right and in fact he may well be the best of them all.

With only four teams still going and no news on what team RCG is headed to, you have to think it has to be one of the four live teams. You can put a line through the Sharks and Storm but the Chooks and Riff both need a front rower.

I say the Chooks will replace a double barrel name with another double barrel name
