Rugby Union

Playing Bledisloe, both game in Oz, lets get that trophy back! Going to be tough. I read earlier
that razor Robinson was out surfing with Joey Johns
yesterday

James Slipper will pass the great George Gregan
in most caps played by for the wallabies too. Going
To be a great game, test match rugby, early arvo 👌🏽

So true champion @Dr_Ice, the decline of our national team has been a disgrace.

And it all goes back (in my opinion) to the state franchises and the disregard of grassroots rugby in the grade comps.
I think it was when rugby turned professional in 1996 and Super Rugby was created for Foxtel. There was no Super Rugby on free to air TV for years (decades). Not many people could afford Foxtel and rugby was lost to a whole generation through no week in week out visibility of what was very good quality rugby union. Rugby has paid the price for this ever since and, imo, will never recover in this country that is the most competitive sports market in the world (given the number of sports on offer for a small population). Rugby is now consigned to being a niche sport only.

What a match!
The Bledisloe Cup stays in Aotearoa
Weird game this one, Aussies way behind, a couple of yellow cards to the All Blacks and Aussies came back into the game to just fall short.

7 days in footy is a long time.
But the result was still the same:

I think Test Rugby for Australia has died, for now, and not even Joe S. will be able to resuscitate it.
We’re going to have to be content with playing Pacifc Island nations. Even the English spring tour must be in jeopardy and I see the British Lions are having second thoughts about coming here.
Need I say more ….,

Wallabies played well and just couldn't quite execute. 2 or 3 players off winning these matches imo. One less try to the All Blacks and one more to the Wallabies and its 26-20 with Wallabies dominating and it was a different game.

Joey S will make a big difference, but more experience for a few others and they will beat the lions next year I'd suggest and I expect them to win 2 games at least on end of year tour

That’s if they play the Lions, I heard the tour still in doubt !

I just looked up on Google and it says the 2025 Lions tour is cancelled due to lack of funding.

We are really pathetic at Rugby - don't know why we bother
The recent championships we were dead last in 4 th a mile behind the 3rd placed Argentina . Just look at the local Shute Sheild comp with its large number of "north shore " and a couple of eastern suburbs teams .Seems to mainly represent the "old school tie " gents
Very unrepresentative of our society .
The A league has 10 times the supporter base maybe 20 times

Eventually it will die because we don't have the population to financialy support 4 football codes .
we have our tiffs over the table,n the league side has bn waiting 4 this day,if the Ozzies can generate a $ England will get them there.Whats soccer

As a young bloke i played league soccer and union even sometimes afl and enjoyed them while playing. It is a very different story watching them and i only enjoy watching league and also nfl to a slightly lesser extent and soccer at world cups, these days i find union very tedious because it seems to be all scrums and penalties and referees trying to be the star
