Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

i wouldve loved to have seen an assistant who has been under bellamy or robbo come in.

just anyone who has come from a successul system - penrith, storm, roosters.

and someone with a harder edge.

instead we get another mate of benjis

that’s a fair enough opinion… but can I say any of those assistants would have placed Benji under immediate pressure for being replaced after a bad start next season …looks like they are riding with a Benji for 2025

I'm curious as to whether we see any changes following the end of year review into our S&C staff. there seems to be a general consensus amongst players and football department staff that we weren't at the races physically and Marshall is already apparently cracking the whip asking them to return in good knick. apparently there's a stack of boys already in the gym.

whether that's on Moussa and his team remains to be seen.
Moussa seems like a good bloke but I always got the feeling , erred on the side of caution .
Example; when the HIA rule came in and we were carting all our players to the doctor and then other teams would leave thier guys out there .
It might be apples and oranges , and I’m totally off base , but yea , it kind of didn’t run in sync with the whole win at all costs mentality of elite sports.

yeah … it ain’t great … but what was the expectation… some former first grade coach was coming here to be an assistant ? … and by the way he wasn’t going to be a distraction in case they start 1-4 next year … ?

Benji been here 2 years now … he needs to poo or get off the pot ..
Benji played under Bennett , sheens , Maguire , and a whole host of ex nrl coaches / assistants .
I don’t think he’s behind the 8 ball in regards to coaching expectations / performance . Considering it’s usually as you get older you realise how much harder you need to work to keep up .
I think his issues were 2 fold . We had issues with executing game plans / there was short fall somewhere in the passage of information re. Strategies and plays .
And I honestly think he didn’t implement the best strategies for fitness and performance , whether that being his own fault or the fault of someone else who convinced him otherwise .
I think our defence seemed to have the right strategies most of the times , yet guys didn’t have the discipline (due to fitness IMO) to execute .
The moral of all that . The boys need to be bigger faster stronger . Until then we are going to be a step behind .

Just listening to Shawn Blore speak about Craig Bellamy and how tough the preseason was for those guys! Blore almost fainted a couple of times due to the intensity. It’s no secret why the Storm are so successful. It’s no fluke Bellamy has made 11 Grand Finals in 20 years which is ridiculous. They demand hard work and character.

Then I listen to Galvin on the footy show yesterday, speak about how Benji is all about creating a loving, fun environment. That’s our biggest flaw. We don’t flog our players enough to see what they’re really made of. Until that changes nothing changes at this club.
Madge tried the hard approach and most of the team bitched out on him beacuse they were too soft. We are weak in most areas of the game and it shows on the ladders.

If he's not behind the 8 ball then I dont understand his lack of implementation.

Maguire was bagged for bringing in his people to protect his position not surprised the same old stuff is being trotted out. It's all about results no matter who the head coach brings in just like we think we should have persisted with the assistant coaches when they are moved on and find success at other clubs.
