2024 Grand Final

Beccaaauuseee, they are more than likely finally going to be weakened. Think of it this way. He’s just arriving to the most hyped, out of control party you can imagine, and just as he’s arriving, everyone is starting to reach for their jackets and head for the door.
There’s still plenty there next year.

That’s right.
People are praising Luai for his game. Cleary was a lot better.
Respectfully disagree. It was Luia that saw the numbers short on the right just before halftime & spun it to cleary , who just drew & passed like all of us could do. Luia saw the opportunity, cleary just did what any 10 yo i coach could do.... draw & pass.

That’s one instance.
Look at their stats.
Cleary was in everything, scrapping and fighting and scheming, he was also defending his arse off with a clearly busted shoulder and damaged hand. His kicking put the Storm under incredible pressure and he enacted the game plan, I.e. burn their middle to perfection.

Once again old mate i gotta disagree. cleary , while a good kick of the ball, aint nothing special. What i will say is , a cog in a well oiled machine. Plays his part , but unable to function without all the great support he recieves from the team. He has failed on the the biggest stage(SOO) where the good players are exposed & the truly great players excell.Might be a GOAT , but i dont think so.

Well it certainly has been no party at the Tigers the past few years. I am sure Ice will be fine winning at least double the games he has been used to with us.

I’m not saying he is a GOAT but he hasn’t “failed” at Origin and has dominated at clubland.
He has played in 6 Origin series;
  • 2018 = played 3 games at halfback for a NSW series win.
  • 2019 = played 2 games at halfback for a NSW series win.
  • 2020 = played 3 games at halfback for a NSW series loss. MOM in game 2 and won the Brad Fittler medal as NSW best player for the series.
  • 2021 = played 2 games at halfback for a NSW series win.
  • 2022 = played 3 games at halfback for a NSW series loss. MOM in game 2.
  • 2023 = played 1 game at halfback for a NSW series loss.
Not a terrible record by any stretch.

To many unforced errors from Melbourne tonight.

Didn’t think it was an awesome game either.

They conceded a try off a bomb which they'd normally defuse.........while their bombs were a touch shallow amd Melbourne's wingers were sweated on as they took the ball.

That's all it was.

A very very good player.

Whether a GOAT we will know in coming years..........starting in 2025.

Very poor read of an elite contest. You disliked Origin 3 as well?

Too many Melbourne errors cost them imo.

Can’t win big games with 15 errors period...........unless opposition makes a similar amount.

Nothing funny about it.
That game was frantic and pretty much went end to end for the majority. Yes there were some errors, but in most cases they were defended.
Penrith won by taking opportunities and strangling the life out of the best team of 2024. It was an amazing thing to watch.

1. Dylan Edwards
2. Casey McClean
3. Izack Tago
4. Paul Alamoti
5. Brian To'o
6. Blaize Talagi
7. Nathan Cleary [C]
8. Moses Leota
9. Mitch Kenny
10. Isaiah Papali'i
11. Scott Sorenson
12. Liam Martin
13. Isaah Yeo [C]

14. Brad Schneider
15. Lindsay Smith
16. Liam Henry
17. Luke Garner

Penrith 2025
Thoughts?
if cleary misses games like he has the last 2 years, Schneider will not get it done in the past Luai takes that role.
Ice is a good player but he ain't Fish.
Declare it now they will not win in 2025

If they did though? Could you blame an ex panther for dusting off his pink jersey and celebrating with them?

I reckon they are not far off again next year. Clearly and Yeo exceptional leaders and competitors on the field and they still have years of good footy ahead of them - bearing injury which is a concern with Clearly.

Once again when it mattered most Penrith played their style and went after the contest. Chased the kicks harder, attacked in defence and to be fair absorbed a big lift from the Storm in the second half that would have folded most teams.
When you look at the players they have lost since they began this run it is truly remarkable.
I guess everyone likes different things in a footy game and fair enough, but for me that was one hell of an absorbing contest. It was intense and really until the last few minutes the result was still up in the air. Not much more you could ask for in a GF and a nice way the end the season.

I think the loss of Luai and Fisher-Harris will be very significant, even moreso than their previous losses of Crichton, Kikau, Api and Leniu. Will be interesting to see how they shape up next year and who they will unearth to replace these players.
