Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pascoe, Sheens and i hope im wrong but at next years end it will be Pascoe, Sheens and Benji thing. This club needed an outsider with coaching experience to aid Benji and another insider like Hodgo is not the answer. I really thought that was a chance for Richo to really start making serious changes and show were not accepting another spoon. Imagine trying to sign players after another spoon. I love the team as much as anyone but im sorry i just dont see any other club finishing lower than us. Its not being negative, im seriously concerned. We need Forwards more than anyone by a mile, lets be real.
I agree and there’s a few of us out there.

There were rumours floating about after the Concord Chainsaw Massacre that Benjis days were numbered but he slipped through the steel cordon.

On reflection, Richo might have been better giving him a year to see what he can do.But the club isn’t paying his wages anyway, so if he gets shot in the head, no direct financial issue. Just more wastage of other resources and precious time.

But Benji is completely taken with his grand plan anyway …which some are arguing is little more than the ghostly reincarnation of Tim Sheens.

When they came up against each other at Leichhardt, Lachie shone and Brooks was worst on Ground. Luke looked sharp against a worn out and fatigued team while he was fresh. Think that as a game plan was pretty sharp thinking
They were both poor in that game, Galvin slightly better.
That should have zero bearing on end of year rep sides.
One made it to the second week of the finals, the other got the spoon.
On rep game day, the young bloke played like someone way out of his depth and the experienced guy ripped and geared and had them worried.
It was terrible coaching from Fitler, who is a terrible coach fullstop.

Any idea which 2 we’re linked to?

Kautoga to return?

If u believe that clubs play by the rules , u need therapy 😳😜
Really we are chasing players from a 3rd nations football teams , we need experience type players , we already have too many kids on are top 30 , this is why we are at the bottom on the heap . We sign one of the best half’s in the competition yet are forwards are just above pathetic, get of ur arse Richo and sign some class forwards

He's a captain not a leader!
He's a captain and IMHO Api is the only bloke doing any kind of leadership.

Like Farah, when it's all down to you on so many plays you can only do so much.

I actually hope Api can shift a little because 9 is such a blender. You can give opportunities but you can't drive the whole team (Cam Smith had Cronk and Slater). I can't blame Api for many in this team just giving up. Paps, etc need to own their behaviour.

One played against fresh players and one who's faster came on against a completely gassed opposition and did his job

Whether you are or not a fan of Benji coaching methods he has been rushed and should have in all seriousness made to coach SG BALL and then progressed to Flegg for at least two seasons before given a shot at first grade job.
Lee said Benjis appointment as coach was about the only thing the new regime got right.

So he’s still a legacy appointment.

And between the lines, determined to implement Tim’s policy in some shape or form, because he was so close to Tim.

Hopefully, we can get a couple of gritty forwards and he put this car crash of a learning season behind us.

He’s going to get a red hot go at it and come what may, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have another full season at the helm.

Our last hope is some decent forwards.

We could end up having to wait another season for a couple. So more promises pending, but we put with it, because we don’t have any say.

I compare it to online fandom. i.e:

Piccard/Kirk was the best star trek captain ever
or
Wolverine would definately beat a nuclear bomb
or
Parramatta's 1981-1983 team is far far better then the current Penrith team that has won 4 grand finals. (as said by some delusional Parra supporters).

It's fandom. People on the board saw what happened in 2005. Benji, Hodgson, Etc can't do no wrong.
Which is a huge problem as whatever Benji magic worked, worked then. Now I love the 2005 gf etc but we can't just replicate that easily. Hodgson adds some value to the team but we should be looking outside for a coach to focus on both structure and tackling GRIT.
