Penrith’s quest for a three-peat looked dead in the water in April last year when they were upset by a Wests Tigers side that ended up with the wooden spoon.

Enter Jarome Luai.
“After it we had a bus ride home and one of the things that really stood out for me was he pulled me aside, we had a conversation,” back-rower Scott Sorensen says.
“He said, ‘We need to be better. That wasn’t good enough. I need to take more responsibility. I need to lead the left edge, I need to get my hands on the ball more and be more of an attacking threat. Our connection needs to be built and we need to be better’.
“That lit a fire in my belly. For him to do that and own that, and speak about himself wanting to be better, wanting to be a better playmaker, leader on the edge, that was inspiring.
“For me, I had so much more respect for him. He understood he needed to be more responsible and more of a leader. For that I take my hat off to him.”

Funny how we were talking about old players we had signed who were either broken down or just upping there super, just been announced that Chris McQueen has signed up to play for my home town of Moranbah for our local side the Miners….. might go see how he goes

Benji never coached anyone in doing flick passes.
If anything Hodgo could fire Bula up to get his fitness up to scratch so he can try replicate Hodgos support play

Hodgo won't coach us an army of Hodgo's. I do see him imparting skills that he picked up as a player, but you are right Brett will run the training sessions that He/Benji/Morris develop.

He will see a stack in Bula's game and refine it.

Ultimately he is the wrong person to be running our training sessions. If we have to pick an old timer to do it (not saying we should), Liam Fulton. I reckon he could out-train everyone in our squad bar Api.

Phil Gould obviously has had a bit to do with Hetherington.

Gould laughed at it, saying it was typical of Jack & that he was just playing around. Probably as much thought as most people should put into it.

I listen to him interviewed. I think interviews give a lot more information on a player than any credit ever given. He's articulate. He makes good points. He doesn't flounder when asked direct questions. He answers without stumbling over himself.

He's no idiot. I think the club has probably fielded enough idiots in it's time.

If you don't put much weight into it- I'd get you to listen to ANY Storm player interviewed. 90% of the Panthers or Roosters too. They don't hire idiots.
 
When we discuss the players to move on, nearly every conversation leads to Brent Naden.

I get it- pretty high price for a KOE guy.

Just won the KOE player's player.

I'm starting to lean on the idea that this is the kind of guy you WANT pushing the 1st grade players- someone that doesn't fall into KOE & just go through the numbers.
