What we now need is Miller, Fa'agutu, Kit Lualili'i, Matamua, Johannssen & Sukkar to start pushing to take reps away from Twal.
I'm sure I'm about to hear how terrible this pack is going to be. But the same people telling me this, are the same one's telling me how rubbish Utoikamanu, Bateman & until Round 20 2024, Papali'i have been.
The step down from 2024 Utoikamanu to 2024 Pole is rather minimal. It wouldn't take MUCH progression for this to be a wash.
Bateman can just be replaced by Porter according to some. I'd argue that Seyfarth is the better option. Regardless, 2024 Bateman to 2024 Seyfarth, if you believe the critics on the forum, is probably an upgrade.
So that leaves the colossus that was Papali'i, who until the tail end of 2024, was in consideration as the worst signing in Tigers history. He's gone & replaced with Bird. Who, for the record, hasn't tried to get out of his contract since signing & is, in fact, leading the charge on pre-season training.
It COULD be argued, our pack is in fact stronger, if we accept the criticism of the players leaving the club.
Sione Fainu will be relied upon to upgrade his game to Pole-level play next season. Unless Royce Hunt takes that role, in which Fainu only need replicate his 2024 output. Twal replaces Seyfarth on the bench. Da Silva is Api's sub.
That's 10 forwards, not including development of the other 6 I named in Johannssen, Miller, Sukkar, Lualili'i, Fa'agutu & Matamua.
