Why is there even a clause in his contract 🤦‍♂️. Would always backfire on us

Might have been a way to encourage him to become a regular in the game day 17.Why is there even a clause in his contract 🤦‍♂️. Would always backfire on us
Our previous 2 'leaders' at the top getting walked over by Isaac Moses with another of his clients again most likely. Why is there even a clause in his contract 🤦‍♂️. Would always backfire on us
I don’t get the dislike for Tumeth. He is most likely on a min wage top 30 contract anyway and was fit all season developing in Flegg as they should. Next year a full season of cup will have him ready to be called on. It’s like people think these guys aren’t interested in developing further. If he moves to another club he still has the goal in becoming a full time NRL player so why not keep him as a back up in our squad. At least he isn’t kicking stones for playing Flegg all year after his NRL debut 2 years ago.Our previous 2 'leaders' at the top getting walked over by Isaac Moses with another of his clients again most likely.
I think Tumeth will accept his player option (ensuring he gets more money for 2025) because he will likely only get a Development Contract at max from other clubs. But Richo will find a way to move him on or pay him out. I will be very surprised if he is still in our squad come Round 1 next year.

I just look at the Top 30 (or 31 at the moment) roster and feel he is probably last in terms of who will contibute to our NRL team in 2025. He also doesn't have as high a potential ceiling as say a Jordan Miller in my opinion. If he was on a development contract or train and trial, I would be happy to see him stay. If it is a choice between him or Sione Fainu getting a Top 30 spot, it is no choice at all.I don’t get the dislike for Tumeth. Fair enough. He is a good line running backrower which we lack. I think we could move on others before him that’s all.I just look at the Top 30 (or 31 at the moment) roster and feel he is probably last in terms of who will contibute to our NRL team in 2025. Yeah I get that side of things and agree to an extent. It depends if we have other decent players lined up to come in too. As I mentioned in my previous post, we need to find a spot for Sione. That is non negotiable. Then it probably depends on who we have lined up to come in and if it is worth the change. If Richo needs to be ruthless, he will be.I guess we'll find out very soon.
Part of me hopes the club takes the honourable stance with all these 'supposed' players on the outer. What I mean is that we honour their contracts unless the player himself can find a new club with the Tigers paying little to subsidise it.
For example, with Bateman. Richo & Benji sit him down and say: "look if you're in for the crocodile roll, we want you but cannot guarantee you a spot in the 17. Everyone will have a chance to fight for their place in the pre-season. If you do want to join a new club, we won't stand in your way. Up to you mate."
Then if they kick stones at training or fail to meet standards, then their contract is terminated.
The only outlier to this would be Sullivan is his reported $500k salary pa for the next 3 years is correct. I'd tell him he is 4th/5th in the pecking order of our halves & not performing to his salary. Offer him a payout of 1-year to be released. Then he can go find a club even for a T&T, back himself to get an opportunity to play 1st grade. Otherwise he won't see NRL for a long time.
Buy our clauses are usually as follows ; an agreed fee either up for negotiation or it’s in the contract , nearly always less than the value of the total contract , or, like in mlb payed out over many years eg . Bobby Bonilla retired in 2005 or something , and gets a mil a year until 2030 .Why on earth would the club need to pay out anything more than his contract value for 2025? Never heard of penalties being imposed in addition...
Sione Mata'utia is a good player but from recollection suffered from injury. The SMH article provides background.Sione Mata'utia is the backrower we need. Would not cost alot of money either, works hard on and off the ball and can cover edge and center.
Exactly. The issue is not the player but the type of contract he is on. In his one NRL trial game he defended well and looked to be a player of promise. Not every forward has to be a monolith and many of the best including Liam Martin are not.I don’t get the dislike for Tumeth. He will be a good line running back rower - for the Dapto Canaries…Fair enough. He is a good line running backrower which we lack. I think we could move on others before him that’s all.
My thoughts is the middle part of our roster is killing us. That needs an upgrade.
Just because Penrith did it, that doesn’t mean we should.yep cleary mentioned it 500 times in his new book haha
None of them are as small as Tumeth, though. Pay him out and get him a carpentry apprenticeship.Exactly. The issue is not the player but the type of contract he is on. This could very well be true.Peeps, may as well stop all this talk about signing player x or y…. We have no top 30 spots left nor any TT spots left for 2025…. What we have is what we’ve got….the likes of Bud, Naden, Bateman, Stains no club wants for 2025 without the WT paying > 50% of their contract… we are in dog doo roster ways
I disagreeHe will be a good line running back rower - for the Dapto Canaries…
No one dislikes him, good local kid that tries hard…
He’s just taking a spot that’s well above his ceiling, and we don’t have the squad that can afford to give spots for charity.
Actually Liam Martin is similar frame but is 10kg heavier. He also debuted at 21. Tumeth is 21 now.None of them are as small as Tumeth, though. Pay him out and get him a carpentry apprenticeship.
I appreciate you want to support Tumeth but he will never tie Martin's boot laces. I'd say in 3 or 4 years time most will have forgotten his name. No sly against the kid, I'm sure he's a good person, if you infact know him personally.Actually Liam Martin is similar frame but is 10kg heavier. He also debuted at 21. Tumeth is 21 now.
