Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why would Hunt want to return to SE Qld? He can do that when he's retired.

I'm certain the only thing on his mind is trying to win a premiership before he retires. That's why i reckon the Rooster for 12 months makes sense, though a Hunt and Townsend halves combo will be talented but slow. Their young half may get some time too.

For the Broncs if Mam is stood down pending his case, then they can use his cap space.
Just going off what he's said previously. If he has the chance now & there are options in SE Qld, I'm sure they would be his preference.

Hunt will want to return to SE Qld. Most viable are Dolphins & Broncos. There were murmurings a while back Averillo wanted a return to Sydney and for the Broncos the one who could be released to free up cap is Cobbo.
Let's say Hunt's criteria is: Team capable of winning a premiership in the next 2 years, playing in the halves and moving back to QLD. His options are pretty narrow. Really only leaves Brisbane pending on what happens with Ezra Mam. If he drops the QLD preference it opens up Dogs or Roosters.

If he isn't fussed on the above and will take the biggest pay day, it will be the Dolphins.

not putting on 4 the club next week find another
career please, you're dragging good people down.

Dolphins are not that far away from being very competitive

They don't have much cap space with lots of high contracts already! hammer, herbie, kaufusi, flegler, saifiti finefuiaeki all on 700k-1mil. They're even playing Tupou 500k, and he's unlikely to even be a starter for them. They have Nikorima and Katoa signed up long term too.

But if they were offloading someone they have some good forwards and backs i'd gladly take.
$500k for Tupou? Suddenly I don't feel so bad paying $500k for a back up 7.

Douhei to the dragons
seems as if there's a few clubs that might sniff around AD given their circumstances.

it's gonna help being an average half this free agency period. there's a stack of clubs that are on the lookout for halves. Trindall and Sexton are the two best on the market, with guys like Hastings, Doueihi, Atkinson, Ilias and O'Sullivan the next tier down.

Dolphins backline next season with Hunt would be impressive:

1. Hammer
2. Bostick
3. Averillo
4. Farnworth
5, Isaako
6. Katoa
7. Hunt

I'm telling you- they are not far away. Flegler & Gilbert back with Saifiti added...
Fair point. I've probably undersold them. Didn't rate their forward pack as one that can compete but forgot that with Flegler and Gilbert returning they essentially have 3 new forwards. Backs are topline

Bennett is a massive loss though, and history tells you that clubs Bennett leave struggle.

That's pretty much what I'd have for round 1 too.
Twal interchangeable with any of the bench forwards and Seyfarth probably deserves a spot somewhere based on his end to 2024.
Big question marks on who gets #4 & #5, but I wouldn't be too unhappy if this is what got trotted out.
