Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Fair point. I've probably undersold them. Didn't rate their forward pack as one that can compete but forgot that with Flegler and Gilbert returning they essentially have 3 new forwards. Backs are topline

Bennett is a massive loss though, and history tells you that clubs Bennett leave struggle.
Last story I read about Flegler is they were still worried he may have to retire

Assuming we don't offload Bateman:

1. Jahream Bula
2. Jeral Skelton
3. Justin Olam
4. Sunia Turuva
5. Charlie Staines
6. Lachlan Galvin
7. Jarome Luai
8. Alex Twal
9. Api Koroisau
10. David Klemmer
11. Samuela Fainu
12. John Bateman
13. Jack Bird

14. Talyn Da Silva
15. Sione Fainu
16. Fonua Pole
17. Royce Hunt
This . But I think we need another front row as Twal has missed a lot of games with concussion

Given that players signed Nov 1 onwards are for the 2026 season, and with the contracts at the club as they are- if the club cannot sign Pole long term they could target 2 front rowers as Pole & Klemmer could be gone.

And, signing players on the wrong side of 30 to a contract in 2 years time is not smart business.

Willison, Moale, Hohepa Puru, Hazelton, Hau Tapuha, Lemuelu, Pahulu, Hassett, the Couchman twins- these guys hold great value. They might not be the 'big names', but come 2026, they should be hitting their straps or entering their prime years.

I would think that centre & potentially wing might also be in consideration for a year or 2 time. Adam Pompey is a name I keep looking at & we were linked for a while. Mulitalo might be a big name worth targeting early as well. Obviously the development of Makasini & Luke Lualili'i has to be taken into account here.

Lastly, the second row could also be a target. I named Hassett & Lemuelu & they would both be terrific targets. Nikora is a 'name' player that could be looked at too. And Kautoga is not only known here, but could be needing to move in order to get a shot at 1st grade.

Thankfully yes, our best back in 2023 and sadly injured in 24 - despite which the club rushed him back early 3 times. Will be our starting right centre in 25 as long as he is injury free
Interesting.

So you're thinking 2025 backline is;

1. Jahream Bula
2. Sunia Turuva
3. Starford Toa
4. Justin Olam
5. Jeral Skelton

?

Question:

Would you sign a 32-year-old Cameron McInnes to play 13 if he was asking for a three year deal?
Personally think we should've signed those 3 marquee players that sharks signed, when they did, being Hynes, Finucane & McInnes.

Would've developed Hynes at centre and I think that would've added the touch of class we truly needed at that time.

McInness is a goer, I'd make the deal. Still.
