Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Fatty, Wayne Bennett at Origin level. Whoever was coaching the “baby broncos” that absolutely smashed us that year…
Bennett has been a great coach, with the ability to adapt his coaching to the audience he has in the squad and so remain relevant. Also, adapting your training to fit your audience is also important. Your presentation imo needs to be engaging, effective and relevant to the outcome. Some have suggested armed forces style training and while that may be effective for a very short period, it is tailored to a different audience and outcome.

That would be Bellamy who went on to prove his worth as hands down the best coach over the next 20 years.
No doubt Bellamy is excellent, but I am backing Ivan Cleary. I believe he is a great coach and I always envisage him sitting on a chair at half time with his players intently listening to him. He has the cool, calm demeanor about him which I'm sure influences his players.

isn’t that essentially what they do, bring them young guys in hit fitness hard 7 weeks with the rookies to bring fitness base up, then break for Xmas.

in the new year everyone comes back trains for fitness for 12 weeks, until the season starts then training Is more about skills, analysis and recovery. With Fitness and Strength is now “maintained“ not getting built? (Unless injured)
You would hope so . That’s my point . If that’s the case I’ll go back to my corner ! But to be rocking at 💯 on day one , there’s no where to go but down or maintaining .
People praising Madge , seem to forget that he has a pretty clear modus operende , that only has one outcome . Him shown the exit door eventually .
I think it will get the desired outcome in he coming season . But yea , I’m not convinced the biggest loser style wreck people for 3 months style of training works .

You mean the club that made playoffs just about every single year from day dot and a GF in year two (pre-Bellamy) 😂🤣😂

They Bought the first one.....
Hadn't made the finals for a couple years Prior to 2003.

Bellamy built the base of what followed, And bought through the players that made it happen
- From Scratch.

Does anyone know or listen to the hello sport podcast & have any idea if they have info? I seen they said Roosters want to trade Jazz Tevaga for May which seems completely ridiculous.

Jazz is the same type of style player as cheese (not saying he is anywhere near as good) who is out for half the season but can’t see it being true

Have listened to the boys for a long time and their knowledge is in their tagline “unqualified opinion and unwavering bias”

That most recent podcast name will look ridiculous in a couple weeks to come. I didn’t even get to that trade part yet. Got a better chance of the snake coming out of retirement

Look it all boils down to a few points
1) we need may and Kobe , without reinforcements in the forwards , not even Bennett could get us out of trouble
2) if I was coach I would employ the best fitness coach I could find . Also employ the best defensive coach , no room for friends or ex players
3 ) with our good backline my main focus would be setting up plays once inside there 30 metre , also work on plays from the scrum , this is a area that u can score points from
4) but again it all comes down to what sire of a forward pack we put out
Id also employ a good / great sports psychologist to get in their heads and lift mental toughness and not to drop their heads / effort.

That's what you'll notice about the Panthers: they brought through all those fantastic players like Cleary and Yeo, then they decided enough was enough on the prospects and not to bother having any more. That's why they won that one premiership then faded away when players started moving on - there wasn't anyone coming through to fill the gaps.
Pardon?

Meanwhile in Brisbane players are vomiting in between sessions.

Look, it's impossible to judge what they're doing from a few photos, but I do hope when they have the bulk of the squad together that they focus on strength and conditioning. I don't want to see Galvin smashing everyone in every fitness drill.
I did a tour of the Panthers COE earlier this year. Usually Dylan Edward’s leads all their endurance based training but they were saying they had a young bloke in SG ball that was now leading.

I don’t think Galvin being the fittest is a problem, its just making sure that individually they are all meeting higher standards.
