those who say he didn’t , need to go back and look at each game he played in 24 , Benji also should look at those games , Bateman was one of our most consistent players , Benji need to pull his head in saying if correct Bateman would play reserve grade , he just played for his country , and did well , ffk sake , we get a good player and if he says what he feels we see the club ark up , we haven’t played semis and finals. For over 10 years maybe Bateman was right

I’d just wait before there’s any Bateman stuff happening UNLESS we get Terrell and Sione in 100%. Kinda curious to see him x luai or galvin with a competent backline and some culture/heart in the team

Koroisau & Luai should be co captains
& I would put Kit Laulilii ahead of Twal as he is more aggressive & believe he could have a good year & live up to the hype from his junior days.

Tend to agree. Even that rd 20 game in question i don't remember anything negative from him. I do remember Laulilii having a shocker and Sezers hip drop. So I looked up the stats to see where Bateman struggled. Our back 5 combined for 11 missed tackles and 8 handling errors. Bateman topped the tackle count (42, 2 missed). 79m from 10 carries is ordinary but absolutely no cheap metres in it and with a quick ptb speed. 1 dropped ball, Zero ruck infringements, zero penalties. Not the best stat line but sadly one of our better ones that day.

If you go back the past month before it, statistically he is one of our better performers every week. I know stats don't tell the full story but it doesn't support any of the 'he's rubbish' narrative on here.

I don’t think it’s Olam. keep in mind Canterbury have been retiring players for years on end.

It's definitely not Olam. He's only just finished surgery on his other knee, would be 6 months before we know how his body's tracking. He has recover fully for all we know

I'd have him in our bottom 5 players last year. The number.of errors, penalties bad defence. He was just atrocious. And as our third highest paid player he needed to do more. He's lazy and selfish and when he got called out he spat the dummy

Agreed, re Seyfarth.

He has gone from costing us games to being fairly solid in the front.

We have seen improvement and I am happy to keep him here.
