Well we were fit enough to win 6 games this year. Three times we won 2 in a row.

If we were actually an unfit team my guess is we wouldn’t have won any.

We simply made too many errors in most of the games we played. All experts agree, no team can win a game by making too many errors. No matter how fit you are, error after error fatigues the team especially the forwards.

Fix discipline you fix the problem.

has to be used how the dogs used Kurt Mann this last season who’s also had injury dramas throughout his career.

40 odd impact minutes in the middle. He’ll absolutely get injured playing 80 on an edge every week, god help us if we’ve signed him as a centre

I’m not so sure. If he is soo keen on staying at the Broncos he will be pushing hard to get a new deal/ and not in a rush to do it either.

How many more sin bins did we have than the 2nd most team genuinely. You’d think we’d improve next season solely of the fact we surely couldn’t get as many sin bins again

I’ve got a lot of faith that with the job security, seyfarth will only get better there. Needs to improve his discipline for sure but always has a crack and I think he can excel as a hole runner with Lachy next to him

Yep.

Fitness is a cop out. That's not to say it's (obviously) not fundamentally important, but it's (more often than not) not the key reason teams struggle.

Execution x talent wins football games.

Execution plays into defence just as much as attack. It's a jammer being covered on the sweep, it's the centre making the correct read, it's harmonious connection between the entire edge, it's a unified line both during the set and on kick-chase, it's diffusing the vast majority of kicks, it's a blocker or escort not missing their assignment, it's knowing when to pressure playmakers and when to hold off, it's being effective at first contact, it's controlling the player on the way to ground effectively in order to get your markers and defensive line set etc.

And in attack, it's the obvious stuff. Be better connected, take your chances, make sure passes stick, decoys hitting side shoulders, etc., all that good stuff we know. But it includes discipline as you mentioned.

The fittest teams can fail to execute and go longer without it affecting the game as much. But the best teams tilt the game in their favour through execution on both sides of the ball and rarely need to dig deep in order to stay in the game. It seemed a weekly occurrence from us.

All NRL preseasons do a sufficient job at preparing their players for the rigours of the season-proper. Then, once we're 6-8 rounds in, match fitness takes over and teams (not individuals) are largely congruent in their overall fitness levels.

If that wasn't the case, we would expect to see teams who have no ball and are run ragged in the early rounds, start to dominate from a fitness perspective as the season wears on, simply due to the fact that they'd have been asked to do so much more in-game work than other sides, therefore improving their fitness.

But we don't.

I agree.

Kobe is a good stop-gap and would improve the side immediately, but I'm not sure he's the 5/6 year answer.

I'll rescind that if, once I have a look over the off contract list, there's not much on offer from 26 onwards.

there’s not much doing. he’s probably the best on the market for what we need.

furthermore it’s a good signing. he’s proven in first grade, a defensively minded 13 with high legspeed and is ready to take the next step in his career as he enters his prime.

there’s guys like Duncan, Butcher, Brandon Smith and McInnes on the market but I think there’s less questions around Kobe than any of those I mentioned.

I know you're a fan and I trust your judgement.

My concern, and I don't think that's the right word, is the height of his ceiling and whether or not he solves some of our fundamental problems, long-term.

Short term, absolutely.

Has Benji coaching got that in his management skill set to make us a better execute side considering not all the talent is there??

I think he’s one of those guys Richardson constantly speaks of that is a known, solid commodity that does his job week-to-week.

doesn’t have a high ceiling, sure, but you build the flair, impact and x-factor around him.

Yeah, I would like to see him sign with WT early for 2026 so we know and can then look to do some deal for 2025 but I suspect the reasoning you say is more likely. Delay for him to see how 2025 goes with Broncos. Nothing wrong with wanting to stay in QLD / Brisbane if you like it and want to. Surely moving interstate for career is somewhat of a last option.

It's a fair argument. And the best teams are built on those types of players.

The key there is what we put around him as you said.

I can see him slotting into a number of well-built packs and doing a great job.

At the moment, with our pack looking the way it is, it's hard to see the forest for the trees in terms of where, when and how we're going to fill out the rest of the pack, so KH's value to our pack, as a prospective unit, is difficult to gauge.

As I said earlier though, he improves our pack immediately, regardless of longer-term plans.

You can chose to take the most extreme and polarise yourself if you want . It it’s your choice .
But just because someone isn’t talking about all the things we can all see , doesn’t mean we don’t see it , and it isn’t the elephant in the room . It’s that once again , what is the point of stating the obvious , or even focusing on it and interpreting that in the most negative way possible .

Myself personally while I may be critical on here at times it doesn't mean I don't have hope for next year... And I'd say we all do otherwise why would we still be here.
