I really don't know what your issue is, the recruitment is being conducted by an external recruitment agency, much better process than the appointment of the HBG board members, much better process than we had in the past where HBG board members appointed themselves to the Wests Tigers Board.

The liack of accountability of the HBG and was a major issue in the past, I don't want a board where our director can buy their way to a seat. I want a board that is appointed in a professional manner.

Thankfully the HBG agreed with this and we will soon see the new director appointed to the board.

I have issues with it and evidently so do HBG.

Succinctly,

HBG own Wests Tigers..

They have agreed that there will be a separation of powers between HBG and WT.

Trouble is the so called 4 independent directors which will be recruited by an external agency.

Apparently, not only will they be re recruited by they external agency but selected and appointed by them without HBG even having the right to appoint even from a short-list of candidates vetted by this agency or even the right to veto appointments?

If this is the case it's an absurd arrangement given the 4 independents will hold controlling power in an entity which HBG are majority shareholders.

Wests magpies are all but dead , except in name alone . Same thing for Balmain . The sooner the club rebrands to wests tigers holistically , the sooner guys like you finally either get 💯 on board , or away . This whole battle stations for a club that’s honestly been dead for 24 years , is not healthy at all . Maybe just maybe you will see , that Cochise is not attacking your memories , and the wests prior to 99 , but rather has an issue with the individuals who are on the board of the governing body of the wests tigers . Like I said that governing body is called Holma Barnes Group . They’re not called wests or magpies .
So this thing you’re fighting for to protect , doesn’t exist .

Listen mate don't bother with the attempted cold reads of me.

Stick to the topic if you're able to debate points instead of showing weakness by attacking me personally.

The Holman Barnes Group agreed to implement constitutional change at the Wests Tigers that would enable each ownership group to have 1 representative on the board with the other 4 directors being independents. They agreed that these independent directors would be appointed through a recruitment process conducted by a recruitment agency and this process is underway.

To me the current blow up at the HBG is their matters to sort out and has should have nothing to do with the Wests Tigers or the review process.

To me all this highlights is why the review was needed in the first place.
The WT company ownership structure is available on line.
60% HBG 30% Western Suburbs Magpies 10% Balmain.
HBG and Western Suburbs Magpies are financial partners, they are one in the same.

This is simply 100% incorrect. The external agency are compiling a short list of recommendations. They are not appointing them.

Anyone got access to the DT story on what they are accused of? Just jumped up on the web.
Wests Tigers boardroom fight: Directors reveal allegations at centre of dispute
The three directors at the centre of the ugly boardroom stoush which threatens to rip apart the Wests Tigers have detailed the allegations which saw them ousted from the club.

The Wests Tigers’ ownership dramas have escalated after the three directors at the centre of an ugly boardroom stoush warned they were lawyered up and ready to launch legal action to protect their reputations.

Rick Wayde, Tony Andreacchio and David Gilbert have been banned from any premises under the control of the Holman Barnes Group - the majority owner of the Tigers - pending an investigation into their conduct.

The trio plan to defend themselves against the allegations, which Wayde described as trivial.

“They may as well have said they didn’t like our deodorant,” Wayde told this masthead.

It is understood that among the allegations - some of which are more than a year old - are claims that:

* Andreacchio referred to the wife of a fellow director as “darl”, which it is understood he vehemently denies;

* Gilbert and Wayde put pressure on a fellow director to back Andreacchio, which again they deny; and

* Wayde informed a fellow director he was in the wrong corporate box and failed to sit with his fellow directors at a number of events.

Wayde described the allegations as ridiculous, insisting he wasn’t even at one of the events where he was alleged to have snubbed his fellow directors.

He also refuted claims he and Gilbert had put pressure on a fellow director and revealed the trio were ready to take legal action over the allegations unless the investigation was dropped by Monday.

“I like to think my reputation was spotless in rugby league over the years,” Wayde said.

“So I don’t appreciate my reputation being impugned. So when we get through this … we will be seeking some kind of reparation for the damage that this is causing.

“As I said, they have impugned our reputation and I am not going to cop that. I am very proud of our record and I will stand by my record any day of the week.

“We don’t need this distraction but we’re mentioning it because the public need to know how trivial it is to try to keep us out of the game.”

As for the allegations of putting pressure on fellow director Vince Tropiano, Wayde said: “We asked him the question of whether he was still voting for Tony as chair, which seemed like a reasonable question.

“Then he has accused us of taking him into a back room and pressuring him.

“I don’t know where the back room was. It was at Walsh Bay, a very open cocktail party, one room event in full view of everybody.

“Is it unreasonable to ask whether he was still voting for Tony?

“I am accused at one of the games in Campbelltown of telling (a director) they were in the wrong box when they started (eating) the food that was available there.

“I knew that because I was in the wrong box … but I had been invited to say hello to some of the Wests Tigers people by Danny Stapleton.”

Wayde was flabbergasted at claims he had failed to sit with fellow directors.

“There are seven events - I am not sure what the list is for the other two guys - where we are accused of not sitting with the guys and wives at various events,” Wayde said.

“Out of my list of events, there were two (events) I was running … where I didn’t sit with anybody. There is another one I didn’t even attend.

“So I don’t know how I couldn’t sit with them if I wasn’t there.”

The drama at the Holman Barnes Group comes as they prepare for new board elections early in the new year.

The Group is the majority owner of the Tigers and has ultimate say over how the club is run, although they no longer dominate the football club’s board as they did previously.

The club underwent governance review late last year that led to former NSW premier Barry O’Farrell being appointed as an independent chair.

However, the changes remain at the mercy of the Holman Barnes Group. This masthead has reached out to Holman Barnes Group chair Julie Romero for comment.

In a statement on their website, released earlier this week, the Holman Barnes Group said the investigation was in the hands of an independent party and would not impact the football club.

If this is the case and HBG are making the appointments I stand corrected.

With Shane confirming BOF ahead of this process it has created inconsistencies especially following on from the recent drama involving BRLFC and their threats to dissolve the JV seemingly given partial early traction.

Two things absolutely shit me to tears about this ...

1. How petty this infighting is! I know there are 2 sides to every story but cannot believe the bans are just for those matters. Surely some sort of mediation would have been more professional & just.

2. The newspaper continually running with Wests Tigers. F me, this is HBG, not WT. I hope Richo gets on the blower to his mate Ready and tells him to straighten out his sub-editors.

This is like an episode of the Bold & The Beautiful. Here is the SMH version today ...

‘You’re in the wrong box’: Director reveals ‘frivolous’ claims behind split at Wests Tigers owner

The civil war at the owners of Wests Tigers has taken a new twist, with one of the directors under investigation at the Holman Barnes Group detailing the “trivial” allegations made against him and two other board members, among them not sitting with other directors at functions, calling an official’s wife “darl” and telling another she was in the wrong corporate box at a game.

Holman Barnes Group, which owns Wests Ashfield and two other venues and is the Tigers majority shareholder, has suspended the membership of directors Rick Wayde, Tony Andreacchio and David Gilbert, barring them from entering their premises while an external third-party investigates.

The allegations against the trio, who have all served as directors of National Rugby League team Wests Tigers, have been shrouded in secrecy.

But a defiant Wayde, a long-time Western Suburbs rugby league and cricket official, on Friday divulged the claims made against them, dismissing them as a “lightweight smear” designed to try and force the three out.
“The so-called allegations are as trivial as Tony [calling] one of director’s wife ‘darl’. I’ve known Tony for 40 years and never heard him use that expression,” Wayde said.

“David Gilbert and I are also accused of asking [director] Vince Tropiano if he was going to vote for the incumbent chair, Tony [at the Western Suburbs Leagues Club annual general meeting]. It seems to be an innocent question. They’ve said that we supposedly took him into a back room and pressured him. This is all supposed to have happened at the season launch of the Wests Tigers at the Walsh Bay Wharves.”

Wayde branded it as a completely false allegation. “It’s an open-plan room and cocktail bar, where everyone can see each other. It was pretty basic. We just asked what his position was and it was pretty clear he was on the other side.”

Wayde, who like Andreacchio and former Test cricketer Gilbert, has taken legal advice, said he’d also been presented with a list of seven events where he didn’t sit with other directors, another supposed transgression.

He said at two of the events he had an official role and another he wasn’t even able to attend because he had to mind his grandchildren at the last minute. At the Tigers’ end-season-function at Darling Harbour he said he had chosen to sit up with one of the directors of Wests Campbelltown and his wife because they hadn’t been on the seating chart and when a place was found for them at the back of the room he didn’t want them to be on their own.

“Also [at a Tigers game] at Campbelltown in one of the boxes, I’m supposed to have told [director] Dennis Burgess’s wife that ’you’re in the wrong box”. And I did say that. [Dennis and her had] seen me in there, but I’d just gone in to say hello to [Wests Tigers director and Balmain chairman] Danny Stapleton. I was only visiting,” he said.

“They had come in and I was just trying to save them the embarrassment of eating the food in the wrong place.”

Wayde believes there has been an attempt to keep the details of the allegations behind closed doors because they are so minor.

“They tried to put a very oppressive confidentiality ban on the whole thing so we weren’t even supposed to talk to each other let alone the other directors. They’d have to be embarrassed about how frivolous they are,” he said.

“I’m very proud of my record as a director of the Holman Barnes Group and I’d stack up my track record against anybody else’s anywhere really, anytime. I’ve got nothing to hide, nothing that I’ve done wrong, a clear conscience.”

Holman Barnes Group chair Julie Romero declined to comment on Friday, instead referring this masthead to a statement published on its website last week.

It said the investigation was instigated after “the chair was made aware of alleged conduct, which, if established, may give rise to breaches by the directors of their obligations as members or directors of the group.

”All members, including directors, are expected to adhere to the standards, policies and obligations set forth in the Group’s constitution and by-laws,” the statement said.

“Under the constitution, the directors involved have an opportunity to respond to the allegations against them before any final decision is made. While this process is ongoing, the directors in question have been suspended from all privileges of membership.

“The group will not comment further on this process prior to its conclusion out of respect for those involved. The group’s priority is to ensure confidentiality and respect for its community, members, and observing due process. The investigation is a Holman Barnes Group board matter and does not impact the football department at Wests Tigers.”

I don't understand how Barry O'Farrell can be classed as an independent chair as mentioned in this article, when he is apparently aligned with the Balmain side of the J/V as previously mentioned somewhere on this Forum, if my memory is correct.

We need the Balmain Tigers board to buy in again saying how outraged they are and they want to stand alone
I'd be careful what I wished for if I was you TS, as someone from the Wests Magpies could feel the same and say we don't want Balmain in the JV anymore and jump in with a complete takeover bid.
