Without the financial backing from HBG Wests Tigers would not be able to operate independently.

That is the very definition of what a sports club is supposed to do. It uses money from the community and gives back to the community. People spend money there knowing it's to support a club. The football club also reciprocates and promotes them through events.

The directors don't deserve a pat on the back for following that mandate. They simply are there as agents of the community, to act in its best interests. Not their own.

Old Balmain fans are well aware of the state of affairs and what got them to that point just like how the merger came about in the first place. The reality is "Wests Tigers" is the club that fans have been supporting now for the last 25 years and the one registered with the NRL, despite the the constant poor image that the club generates via its leadership and on field results. The fan base is there ready and supportive - the leadership in the meantime appear to have other motives going on.

Reality is all so called Balmain/Wests friction is emanating from official Balmain circles and their fans.

BRLFC recently threatened revolt.and previously the wiggles publicialy talked about the return of Balmain.


Let's just say that some people aren't happy with the recent treachery from the Balmain RLFC, where after having received millions from HBG which is meant to be a unifying structure came out talking that they wanted to go it alone., after they associated themselves with the review. Some may be concerned whether the whole process was a proxy for their interests especially since Shane was at pains to shut it down and there was a leak from the board which didn't receive censure.
