Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Klemmer was ever going to spark up it would be now, before this preseason he was the alpha by a mile. We actually have players who can go toe for toe with him in the squad + he is playing for probably his last contract.

I would be disappointed if he isn’t hungry and angry.
Think he needs to beef up a bit and get back to offloading the ball more ,

I suggested re-signing a guy like Saukuru to a T&T Contract yesterday with a Top 30 spot & bigger dollars for helping the club out.

I guess, in the same light...could the club sign Sione Fainu to a T&T with a guarenteed Top 30 spot in 2026 & some backloaded dollars to make it worthwhile helping the club out of it's Top 30 spot issues for now?

That way, Sione gets half a season thereabouts where he can get selected in 1st grade.

Sione showed last year he is a Top 30 player in the NRL… if not at the Tigers it will be elsewhere next season ..I suspect that he has already signed a contract with the WT and they are just waiting on Richo to “open up” some more roster spots before it’s official ..

I know it's an off season ritual, but I'm starting to be quite positive about next year.

You'd think at least 5 will be straight into our starting line up and 5 of the 6 have been playing finals. Add that to Galvin, Api, Bula and the likes of Fainu we're looking good.

I think now might be a good time to talk to Galvin again to see if he wants a pay rise and extension.
Every year I try and guess what month the forum gets positive
November December January
Turns out this off season it’s May

Klemmer, left right out and farewelled after 2025?

I like it.
@ 800k+....hed better have a great season and no injuries to trigger the 14 games plus option for 2026
Hes solid..no more no less...but a legacy of even more desperate times a couple of years ago

Anyone worried about Hunt signing now?

I was at the start and now think we may of rushed for him.

Cant see why a prop with 12 mins in him is going to be worth it.

He looks huuuuuge in the pics.

Hope I’m wrong.

And yes - they’ll try and play him more minutes but if anyone watched him last year - he literally would take 1 hit up … yes 1… and then be super gassed.

And if Cronulla kicked down field he would be gassed by the time he chased the ball.

I watched him closely.

Him , along with AD Olam and Skelton - I think will be our biggest disappointments next year. Unfortunately.

I called it with sullivan before we signed him. And Bateman at 4 yrs. I have a feeling Hunt will play a bit of reserve grade unless he loses some weight and can get MUCH fitter.

In positive news - we are 1 middle, 1 second row, and 1 center away from being a top 8-4 side. And by 1 I mean classy.
Thank you for all the positive feedback 😂

Top 4? Are we really?
I think our purchases so far will get us off the bottom. We may even leave the dreaded bottom 4.
The top 4 is a lot further away than just recruitment.
We have to fix every aspect of our collective gameplay just to make the 8.
Think about our defence, discipline and kick chase as examples.
We have a Looooong way to go yet.

This 12 minute BS on Hunt has to stop. It's bordering on hysterics.

He had 6 games of less than 20 minutes on the field

He had 13 games of 20 minutes to 40 minutes.

I'm glad he wasn't signed to be our #1 prop.

But he's going to play 10-15 minutes each half. Basically, Sione Fainu's minutes last season.

And on the subject of minutes- as much as May is a great signing, he's not an 80 minute prop. He did that once or twice. He's a 50 minute a game prop. Perfect, for injecting Hunt, Pole, Fainu etc in to give him a rest & get some impact.
Some people are just delusional.

I think the 14 jumper is critical as well with this pack.

I was of firm belief Latu gets it but now I am leaning towards TDS.

Api gets gassed every week.

I would suggest at the 25-30 minute mark. Pole, Hunt & TDS. Bend the line, quick play the balls & TDS out of acting half.

Twal needs to be on at this point as well to hold the central defence.

Start - May, Klemmer, Api & Seyfarth (he is the starting lock for me at the moment)

25-30 mins - Hunt, Pole, TDS & Twal

Second half - Api & May back on form TDS & Hunt round the 55-60 minute mark

Klemmer & Seyfarth for the last 10 minutes for effort.

That's 8 interchanges.
All sounds good on paper until a unforeseen injury from the kick off.

I would like to know Benji’s thoughts on where he wants to play Bird next year.
2nd row
Centre
or
Middle rotation at Lock ?

Extending Doueihi when we did was always poor business, I understand Richo had ties with him at Souths but unless we were able to offload Bud (unlikely) we should have held off.
Douiehi was okay. Now we have Bird.

Almost carbon copies. Both have had 3 ACLs, can play multiple positions.

I much prefer Bird on effort & defence.

Douiehi is expendable & unlike Bud, I think multiple opponents will take him at full freight.

Hopefully is true & Sione announcement not long after.
