The 5 players that failed fitness test named.

Three players to front board, another can’t train: Why Benji’s got Tigers right where he wants them https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/th...ight-where-he-wants-them-20241120-p5krzq.html

Solomona Faataape, Latu Fainu, Solomona Saukuru, Heath Mason & Brandon Tumuth.
Mason & Tumuth given a warning whilst the other 3 will face the board next month.

I was quite surprised when I saw who was on the list. Other than Fainu the rest are fringe first graders and that's being generous. You'd think it'd be these guys who'd be leaving no stone unturned to impress the coaches.

This is really ridiculous... It's something the coaching staff should.be dealing with, not the board who only care about themselves.
What would the board know about fitness
This will sound like I am making excuses, but with the exception of Faatape, they are all very young. As a former young guy who made stupid mistakes at work, and thought I knew everything, getting a bollocking early from a boss I respected (to correct something becomes a habit) was the best thing for me. Don't feel like the Board need to be involved.

Solomona Saukuru easy scape goat and then sign Fainu.
I have no idea if Solomona Saukuru is even a decent player or even deserved a top 30 contract as he did not seem to set the world alight in NSW Cup.

Fat ub is very common at clubs in pre season training.
WTs have made a big deal.out of nothing going public about this and imo OTT response of hedging to front the board. Unless of course there's an ulterior motive... Then just dye their hair and flog em

I'm sure there is a motive behind it being public and in front of the board. That motive is likely to free up top 30 spots and if it was only top 30 players then it would be too obvious.

you breach your contract, expect to deal with the suits.

it’s common corporate practice. doesn’t matter what they know about fitness, it’s about how every player effectively signed a stat dec and these three didn’t adhere to protocol.

Yes why make it public it's a private issue and should be kept inhouse?

I heard Brian Fletcher say on SEN yesterday , that since the unfortunate death of Keith Titmuss, you can’t flog overweight players in preseason training anymore to get the weight off them quickly …. Apparently it needs to be done over a longer period of time , meaning that the preseason plans of the club can be disrupted … hence it’s a bigger deal now then it used to be..

Have no idea if any of that’s true …just repeating what he said
