Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Employee mentality...what's an extra day right? Yet if you were docked a days pay you'd be the first at Fair Work.

The guy is on thin ice from his outburst during the season and suffered from poor form.

He is not exactly a model employee to be getting favours from the club.

Whether you like him or not or agree with the clubs actions, the sooner he goes, the less distraction there will be for the season. It's clearly become toxic.
Mate I agree with pretty much your whole post except you are missing my point. He is not taking an extra day off. He is taking his contractually entitled break.

Man that’s a bit rich . The club has allowed him multiple times to go back home , and have been really accommodating re. His well known issues/ reluctance to spend too much time away form his kids. ( which is fair enough , probably points to the idea that John has his priorities right ) .
I guess it’s a lesson in biting the hand that feeds you .
I just can’t believe it’s that un- salvageable.
It really just comes down to desire , and willingness to put your ego aside
When has the club allowed him to go back home? He was late getting here for season 23 because of Visa issues. He went to England for rep duties at the end of 23 thus not starting the 24 preseason until January, the same as this coming season. I don't recall any mid season trips to England. So I don't see how he has been given any favours.
I'm not really on his side of the whole spat. Neither am I on Benjis side as I have no idea what happened.
I do however tend to agree that it would take someone, either Bateman or Marshall, to put their ego aside if the situation were to be resolved and I don't see either doing so.

I personally don't see Bateman coming back to us .. he'll be sitting it out as long as possible and hoping that we pay him out .. !!

But if he does come back .. i think he'll find it a lot easier playing behind and running off the forward pack we now have .. plus Luai will present the ball more often to him when runs into the holes created by our bulldozers Hunt and May .. !!

It's his own fault.

Had he swallowed his pride and fallen in line, he'd be lining up next year alongside a hell of an improved squad with far greater talent and support around him.

The immaturity to not stay the course and control his frustrations I'd say has cost him any chance of coming back.

Who has the correct date for his return to training ,the club or the RLPA?
The RLPA. Both parties documented what they believed the return date should be and why. After reviewing the evidence the rlpa determined Bateman's date was correct. After previously believing the club was correct before Bateman submitting his evidence. (Or at least that is how it was reported).

Hope you are right about Bateman not coming back.

I think with any luck Luai will be providing opportunities for Samuela on the left side with Galvin mostly playing on the right.

Bateman's best position, left right out. 🤣

Have to agree , Bateman is not a line breaker , he is a guy looking to run into holes created by the likes of Luai , and having a pack like we now have doing the smashing through , I think Johnny Boy and Klemmer both have great 2025 , both Bateman and Benji need to work it out to the better of the team
