Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate I agree with pretty much your whole post except you are missing my point. He is not taking an extra day off. He is taking his contractually entitled break.
Yeaaahhhh I know mate, but he is extending his leave on the basis of duties with another club...both parties are digging in. He is buying time so he doesn't have to face the club and Tigers are tightening the noose so he might slip up and create a sackable offence saving the club loads of money.

You mean during the bye week? Surely our coach isn't taking issue with someone going overseas during the bye week when all the players are told to take the week off.
To the other side of the world ? wtf are you talking about . And now you’re twisting the narrative to something I didn’t say . I was saying , he’s been given a lot of rope , he’s used to get home early and often .
At no point did I even reference that the coach had an issue with him going home .
Most NRL coaches would btw . There is a huge difference in spending your bye week in Fiji , compared to spending it in England . It’s a 17 hr flight for starters . That kills most peoples body in which it takes days to recover , sometimes weeks , due to the amount of time zones you’re crossing .
If I was a coach I’d be like “meet them in Hawaii mate . Or Dubai .”
It’s a very long way .

If I was Luai I would be very excited for the squad Benji is building him.
We've certainly done Luai some favours in the last 6 months in terms of who we've put around him.

It's easy to forget that when Luai signed on, it was a giant leap of faith;

- Galvin was a virtual unknown in the NRL community
- The club has since signed Hunt, May, Bird, Skelton, Turuva, Olam
- They've extended junior talent like Pole and Makasini

I think he'd be quite pleased with what Richo and Benji have done to turn the club around in such a short time. Whilst not complete, they've sure as hell set him up for success compared to the squad we ran out in '24.

Very informative BTR.

Agree with above the Hetherington deal may be dead but I still think we need a lock. Unless Benji has a different idea & Pole or Bird or May are gonna wear the 13.

Great news that Seyfarth & Galvin gonna be spoken to in the future & Sione on T&T until a spot opens up.

All falling into place.

Interesting he didn't mention any 2026 targets.

Pending Bateman really think we need another back rower as a minimum.
My read on Richo is that Hetherington is now not in our plans even for '26 as May has joined since that all went down. I feel that Benji has his plans for lock in mind & perhaps Matamua is still a long term plan.

Very interesting his wording on Sione Fainu training with the club until an upgrade opens up. Might just be the Bateman spot.

Unless Matamua pulls a finger out,its just a player i see that doesnt look like he has an NRL future

Hearing him name drop Matamua is interesting. Must have really knuckled down in his time off and is impressing early. Won't be surprised to see us work hard on developing that 13 from in house over the next year or 2.

I agree with Richo, Kobe was 2025 or not at all, whether it's his fault or the clubs, doesn't matter, move on

Richo was very direct about Matamua being in shape.

So let's see how the Bateman situation pans out.

I think maybe Seyfarth on an edge given he is gonna re-sign.

Good depth across the park really! Can't fault the recruitment!

The big problem for 2025 is getting so many new faces to gell. History tells me it usually takes 12 months to get a team firing that has a big influx of players.
Hopefully Iam wrong, but I think top eight will be a real challenge but somewhere around 10 th is feasible. Of course injuries, luck and calls will also play a part
Maybe in 2025 the mighty WT can at least get to their rightful place @ 9th 😆😂
