Going by the DT article, I'd say Eels, Broncos & Knights may have some interest in Bateman and Manly not totally out of the equation but now unlikely. He's be a good buy at $350k pa for 2 years at Eels IMO.

I think there is a bias against Doueihi- not completely undeserved- on this forum, where his failings get exaggerated & his abilities overlooked.

Is he a poor defender? Yes. But, so was every member of the side he defended on. I don't remember the board going into meltdown over his defence 2-3 years ago.

His metres-per-game AFTER returning from his 3rd knee injury are superior to every other centre option we played.

Not sure what side Luai/Galvin will defend. But, if Doueihi plays on the side that has Luai, Bird & Turuva, I expect his defensive failings will not be as highlighted. If Bird is playing #13, then Seyfarth or Bateman are out that side- both are good defensive players as well.

Our poor 2024 defence wasn't due to 1 bad defender. It was a collective of terrible defensive reads & players feeling like they had to produce heroics to save the day.

Put it this way- Doueihi's WORST defensive plays were running between attacking players hoping for an intercept. When he stayed in line- he was an effective defender. The club needs to remove the hero-play in defence.

Man thats bullshit ! I was anti AD when DELETED , and everyone was calling him the captain of the future .
His defence is shit because he doesn’t use his shoulder and shirks contact .
It’s why he got in a lot of trouble for shoulder charges on covering tackles .
He won’t put his body in front of the opposition . Until the day where he does that , everyone is going to have something to say about a 195cm 100kg ripped dude , basically dogging it at times !
It’s harsh but fair reality . If you dared criticise this guy at the time , you were a brooks fanboy , and a loser . That was the narrative about the huge flaws this let’s face it , giant of a guy , who looks like Tarzan and defends like Jane .

Yep but likely a termination fee will be negotiated. Bateman doesn't want to be here as much as the club doesn't want him. Bateman (or Moses) will say you owe my client 1.3mil. Richo will say if I'm going to pay that he can come play Reggie's. They'll agree on a value somewhere in the middle which will be included in the cap.

Doueihi has ability, that has never been the issue, as others have alluded to it's the attitude.
Somebody previously stated they thought it was a 2024 problem. Nope, the problem reared its head in a previous season (23?) when he literally came out of the defensive line to retrieve his mouthguard. Something I would expect to see in the u/10's although not likely in 1st division as even most of those kids have a better attitude.
I hope AD has realised over the break that all this bullshit that comes out of his mouth doesn't mean a thing, it's only the actions that count. If he considers himself a leader and a standard setter then bloody do it and stop talking about it.

People just need to grow up and be professional. Get an independent to hear both sides and get in with it. Losing $350,000 a year fir two is not worth it. We have no other top liking seconds. If we had other options, then yea. But we don’t, so build a bridge and move on children!

Sullivan is the only one I actually feel for. He has never spat the dummy, has always said he wants to stay and earn a spot. He isn't going to get it with us, but at least his attitude is right.

We have a massive weakness in the outside backs and Cobbo can cover every position. He's big, fast and strong and exactly what we need out there. Hope we are one of the 3 clubs.

That is a little unfair as i never saw Robbie give up on the field,if anything it made him try harder.As a player he did undoubtedly get some things wrong in his time which shows he is human(usually overplaying his hand when things were going wrong)
His work ethic on the other hand was excellent and he never gave up which is something Doohie fails in
