#13 Lock

Maybe Pole to start lock in 2025 rotating with a bench player like Bird.
I'd like to see Sione Fainu and Tim Johannessen develop into either the 2nd row or lock positions.

I'm warming to the idea of Bird initially with Matamua/Sione F/Tim Johannessen fighting for the position. The ones that miss out fight for an edge or are moved on the 26.

I think if we don’t get a lock , it will really hurt our pack , yes there is a few who could cover it but we need a experienced lock

Any names come to mind from the brains trust,of an oversize Hooker,(growth spurt) preferably in house, with the thought in mind that hookers are basically a 1/2 backs on roids

If Bird starts at lock, I’d like to see Sione Fainu (and/or Johannssen) on the bench to cover/share the lock role. Johannssen and Sione Fainu both have enough link playing attributes to their games.
If a half, centre or 2nd rower gets injured Bird could move to one of those positions during the game and Johannssen or Sione Fainu could go to lock.

Totally agree with your first word.... so succinct...

If one were to emerge from within it would have to be Matamua. I'm not confident he will ever be up to it though. I think our next long term lock isn't in our system yet.
I'm amazed by all the lack of faith in Matamua in this forum. He is a forward young enough to still be playing Jersey Flegg last year - if he was just playing in flegg everyone would be raving about his potential. Their are not nrl forwards starring at his age they take time to develop - Suia Wong from the Roosters at the same age for example

Dont speak for all of us. You are not that good. Or out of touch.

Huh - I didn't speak for anyone, I didn't claim to be good or to be out of touch - no idea what your on about
You said all. You wrote for us all. Speak for yourself. You are not a prime minister. That's how Obama talked. Look at the result. We appreciate authenticity. You do you.

OK- mayby go back to primary school English and then read my post again and not to be critical - Obama a)wasn't a PM and b) won both his presidential elections

Bird to start for mine. Has the attributes to ball play, or take a tough carry. More importantly he will be a dominant voice in defence which I feel we haven't had in the middle. If his body holds up he will do a job for us there until we upgrade.
bird at 13 probably only gets him through 12 to 15 games
