OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

SMH reported that, unless I read it wrong. Locked in for 2 years only. Same as Galvin.
Yes thats right, but they do not mention what the circumstances must be to trigger his clauses.

Usually these clauses are predicated based on some event, for example the Stefano clauses.

There is not enough detail around the clause triggers.

I'd like to know before jumping the gun.

Yea the article I saw said the same deal was offered to Pascoe and he knocked it back. Not sure the time frame works if that's the case. Sounds like some ex has his nose out of joint and wants to derail things.
Yep 100% and I’m pretty sure Richardson will come out today and clear things up as he normally does. The bloke knows what he is doing if this deal was required to get things done then so be it

Long deals on big money are not necessarily good value to clubs they are favourable to players who will get their money regardless. Luai has two years to prove his worth to the club and it could go either way.

I think this puts pressure on Benji. No improvement and he has to be gone by Rd 10 imo. Can't waste any more time.

However for the money he's on and with what we've got around him im not worried yet that Luai just packs up and leaves in 2 years. Frankly if he wanted to a contract wouldn't keep him here anyway.

The PR damage is the worst bit, in reality its a reminder that we have improved at all yet, since no footy has been played for 2025!

Two years of stability is our best chance of winning and retaining JL. Another coach sacking probably results in Luai taking his first opportunity out.

well … that will be Richo’s call won’t it?

He won’t for one second refrain from making that call and moving on from Benji, regardless of how it might or mightn’t effect what happens with Luai

And everything he’s said in the media around that gives me confidence. He knows our issues and has been diligently working to fix them.

I have confidence too that he will act quickly and without sentiment if need be in respect of the coach … he is on the clock as well in some ways and he will pull every lever he can to improve the team which includes the coaching lever

He’s said unequivocally it’s a three year plan, I’d say another spoon this year would lead him to believe a change might be needed, but I dont see that happening myself.

Three year plan to get to the top right? not just avoiding the spoon … that is too low for Richo … worse than 10 wins which will get you around 10th-12th is the minimum to keep Benji around …Richo doesn’t have the time for small improvements

Top four in 2026 is the stated aim.

Yeah I’d say 9 wins plus is probably around what we can expect this year.

I think they need finals in 25. Especially now we are aware how easy it may be for our top talent to walk.
We may target dour, mistake free footy to produce wins.
Whatever it takes.
It would certainly be great and not impossible but I think depth is going to hurt us in the back half of the year. A good run around origin might be enough.

Chill out everyone.

Jerome won't leave the Tigers after a short stint.

It will destroy his legacy and by then we will be winning.
His legacy is already written. 4 consecutive premierships. Nothing is going to destroy that. And honestly, if his stint here goes belly up, who is going to portray him as the bad guy? It will be our supporters, in the same vain as Cleary when he walked out. The rest of the RL world won’t care. They’ll see it as a player that’s way too good for the club coming to his senses.
