Think the thread is discussing if LO is better than CSS…the consensus is they both need major improvement … in my opinion LO in the heart of the inner city and future permanent Greens Federal seat when Albo retires, won’t be getting much more money spent on it after the latest $40m announcement..
If you live in the Campbelltown area and want a Penrith Stadium style redevopment for CSS . start voting against sitting MPs to make your seat a “swinging seat” at State and Federal levels and make the stadium redevelopment an issue in these elections … otherwise don’t expect anything major to happen
The current (federal) MP has only been in one term. The previous MP from the 'other' party had been there a decade or so & did nothing. The state members over the same period HAVE lobbied for a major upgrade. The last major upgrade ie building the Eastern Grandstand etc was a downsized version of what was originally envisaged.
There's plenty of room around CS to do a major upgrade. They could retain the current Eastern stand demolish the older Western stand and build a new "wrap around" grandstand that would encompass what are now the Northern & Southern stands with greatly increased & improved corporate, media catering, bathroom & change room facilities. That could certainly be done as cheap if not cheaper than the Penrith upgrades estimated to be $300,000,000.
That would deliver a decent 25,000 plus capacity. Campbelltown council could sell off some of the land it owns around Leumeah Station & the state government could sell the "airspace" over Leumeah Station and approaches to developers to build residential & commercial premises (high rise flats/shops etc) to help fund the stadium upgrade.
The Macarthur area is the fastest growing region in NSW. There will be 500,000plus new potential fans & thousands of potential new juniors moving there by 2050. Services & transport links have been or are in the process of being built. Wests Tigers MUST fully embrace the area.
They should have built their centre of excellence there, a big mistake in opinion but they can now at least start investing more in the area and the more games they play there the bigger argument they have to get funding from council and state/federal governments.
As others have said maybe Leichhardt could host one or two games a year much like the Dogs do at Belmore plus trial matches.
