I honestly believe this was the move the tigers needed to make to turn the corner.
Bateman was horrible in every aspect. Culture, performance and effort.
His antics on the field would often impact the whole team. Nothing was more annoying than watching him catch the ball on the edge and step his way into the middle for 3 metres.
Bateman was a parasite which spread across the whole club.
I believe he was horrible for the club in terms of moving forward.
Extremely disappointing considering how hopeful and happy I was when he first signed but his effort and attitude has shocked me in the span of about a year from him signing on.
This is a monumental day and I strongly believe we are better off having Seyfarth play his heart out and getting penalised twice then Bateman try and be a hero.

Top 30 is all under the salary cap and each players salary is guaranteed for the period they are signed for. They can also play from round 1.

My understanding of Train and Trial contracts is that the player gets paid match payments rather than a salary. Their deal can also be terminated at any time (without compensation) and they can only play after a certain round (round 10 i believe). Essentially you get paid less, can get released any time without further payment and can't play until a certain round in the season.

i’m not. the club is. it’s been reported by both News and Nine that Staines and Naden are free to leave should they find suitable offers.

Now that Bateman and potentially Sullivan are gone, I doubt the club will be pushing as hard to get rid of Staines and Naden and might be happy to keep them.

Clearing enough roster spots was more of a priority than cap space and now that we've cleared enough roster spots they will be happy to keep everyone else and let them fight for positions/bolster the competition in Cup.

Apparently we are in talks with a PNG Hunter player and another from the FIJI rep side. In regards to Leo Thompson, we were in talks with his manager, but Leo himself turned us down immediately, he never even came to view our Training Centre .. :-(

I dont know what i enjoy better. The Tigers landing some quality signings or the doggies missing out and going through some of the posts on the kennel.
