Our wing options are average apart from Turuva, assuming he even plays there. Staines is meh and while Skelton has potential, he’s only played 8 first grade games. No one who’s played less than 10 games can be considered the answer. The more I look at it, the more chance I think Laulilii is a genuine shot at being named from the get go.

?? Bird moves to edge … We’ve got some good ones around the age of 17/18. If you can get someone (maybe Bird or anyone really) to fill the void for the next 2-3 seasons , kids like Godinet will be close to ready then . My guess is that’s what the real plan is .
Also defence around the ruck is as our biggest issue and has been for ages. We allow too many teams to control the middle . And that’s not just with thier running game . It’s the wrestling and positional play . Even marker play .

He should have recruited strong assistants around him imo

That will be the sticking point. I agree with you. Personally I think we will see improvement and Benji won't have anything to worry about, I too would have loved to see Richo hire some real experienced assistant coaches to help him. If I'm wrong and the team doesn't perform then next off-season will be full of drama and speculation. I know guys have signed to play for him, though my hope is if the team doesn't perform, that those players will realise Benji won't lead them to the promised land. Only time will tell.

Thoughts on Latu Fainu playing in the centres. Good on his feet and has great ball skills and seams to have a crack in defence.

It's a decent idea.

Latu has good footwork and has tried a variety of positions.
With Bateman gone, it's a near certainty that Jack Bird will be in the forward pack.

That leaves Olam + Turuva in the centers initially with Staines + Skelton in the wing (maybe).
I can see Latu stepping up. Particularly as Turuva moves from Center -> Wing... Surely he is a better wing.

Doueihi would be fine if he had a crack in defense. But honestly he would have to be up there with one of the worst defenders I’ve seen

And T’oa is wildly inconsistent … he can either give you a complete dogs breakfast 2/10 game or he can give you a solid 7/10 game

Yes we have options but doesn’t mean they are good ones
