Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Only facts I know is were significantly deficient in edge forwards, and players become available continuously regardless of contract
We just lost 2 backrowers, and neither was off contract
We need quality in what is arguably the only position we're worse off vs this year
That’s the hard point to get ur head around, both not of contract, and we gave no replacements signed , if benji and Richo don’t pull a rabbit out of there ar** we will be in big shit 💩

Nah...

Okay. If we did not sign May then Yes we would be in Big trouble.

I looked at May's stats, he is way ahead of everyone. Including Papalii and Stefano. I don't doubt were going backwards on our front row, but it is not as bad as it could be.

Ofcourse I hope Richo pulls a rabbit out. But most of the rabbit's worth while will stay while Wayne is the coach. Unless there is a long lost missing Burgess brother we won't be seeing anything good coming our way from there. Do hope Richo or Benji can find a good 2RF, that's all we are missing.

Yes MAY is a bonus , but we are talking about backrowers and we only have one who would make another teams side , that’s Samuel , the rest are not 1st grade starting grade

I don’t want another spoon , I want us challenging for a top 8 spot
Yes but the 2 international back rowers contributed to that and we didn’t have anything lined up prior to release. Not saying they are as bad as some make out but obviously didn’t set the world on fire
It could be that they didn’t gel or lead the inexperienced. Could be that they don’t like the water boy and wanted out. The systems or game plan might not suit them
But one thing is for sure they are gone and for us the only way is up 😊

Not 1st grade standard is generous…
Some we’ve had in the top 30 for years wouldn’t even be considered depth at other clubs.

Yeah I get your point, but Hassett is more proven against men in my opinion. Has held down the 2nd row spot (majority of games) for the 2024 KOE Cup team in a club who has proven to produce high calibre nrl players from their junior base. Whether he can make the leap to NRL standard is the next question.

Tumeth on the other hand, has been more in and out of Flegg and a lot of his cup games were limited minutes off the interchange. This is in a club where the KOE team finished last too.

Won't be shattered if we don't end up with him, but a player like him or Dylan Egan might be somewhere we need to look at if we want to increase our depth for the 2025 season. They would also be cheap.

100% agree with this.

Hmmm, like any prospect, due diligence needs to be taken, and what better defence on young hasset- than romey ? Work ethic , abilities, strengths, weaknesses, attitude, general play, and what he is like as a human for outside of the club. Romey would have a pretty good inside I would think. The rest of us are watching YouTube

If this has legs this could be an amazing signing or a dud. Hassett runs a great line and is always around when you need him. But he doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. Very much a John Bateman build from memory
If he does come over here, let's hope that when it comes to what we need that Harrison Hass ett. 🤣

On a more serious note, the guy comes from a successful system that is producing a winning culture and if the video highlights are any indication the guy backs up and looks to have pretty good hands which is not a bad start.

From a practical point of view, for me the big difference between him and Brandon Tumeth is that Tumeth is taking up a top 30 spot and Hassett, if he were to come to us, I assume would be on a second tier contract with the hope of cracking the top 30 at some stage if his performances warranted it.

With the players that are in front of him at Penrith, you would think he might fancy that his chances of cracking an NRL spot would be much more likely over here.

Once again we have been guilty of handing out top 30 positions to players that have yet to prove that they are NRL standard and we just seem to keep doing it.

Hasset is being kept out of grade by Luke garner. Someone who we didn't care about losing. I think were wearing our blinkers on this one.

If NSW Cup, then great. Not a top 30
Isn't he 20? Panthers have the luxury of bringing people along slowly now.
Yes Garner is not the world's best player but he does his role well with them. Definitely worth investing in compared to some we have now.
