Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Despite the To'o murmurs which are probably just that, i think its far more likely we get Taylan May than him and that's pending a court decision.
You hear Terrell mention his brother a lot you'd reckon he knows what the go is and i don't think he's talking about Tyrone.
If we got Taylan there's a centre locked in we could afford to not resign Naden (i dont think we will anyway) and i think Staines contract is up along with Doueihi. Plenty of space there for Makasini and or Luali'i to come into consideration.
Think we might have to put up with a bit of deadwood floating around the squad this year for another fresh assault on the market for a couple of backs and forwards to fill the gaps.

Iv got this feeling about this kid, mind you I could be totally wrong so don't be shy reminding me if I am, that he's in it for the long haul. I'd hate to lose him but I genuinely think he loves the joint. It was the fact he turned up to pre season 2 weeks early to get started. I just feel like this guy genuinely wants to fix the place and is willing to put the time in unlike alot of others who have come and gone.
I recall many on this Forum were saying that Fonua Pole wouldn't extend. That he would join his mate Steph down in Melbourne and that he was just going through the motions at the Tigers until he could join a BIG team. Well Fonua stuck after 3 wooden spoons.

I do agree that Galvin is THE litmus test for the short term future of this club. If we can extend him, have some on-field success, and keep Romey long term then all of a sudden the joint begins to look like a desirable destination for success seeking footballers.

Imagine Doueihi, Staines, Naden & Feledy out and replaced with May & To'o in 26. We'd have

To'o
Olam
May
Turuva
Makasini
Skeleton
Toa
Laulilii
Saukuru

That is as quality as you can get, including the depth. I'm not sure the funds would equate exactly, plus you'd need another 2 on minimum. But an interesting thought.

Destination club wouldn't that be nice finally after years of players wanting to get out of the joint great change.

Heard a decent whisper yesterday To'o is close to signing on for 2026. Has options in his contract for the remaining 2 years and not happy with the money. Penrith have no cap left and can't afford to pay him anything other than minimum for his tier.
According to the panthers they don’t have any players with an option in their favour .

From emerging NRL stars through to the biggest names in the game, players at 14 of the 17 NRL teams could become available as early as this year as clubs navigate the balancing act between contract clauses and keeping rosters flexible.

Penrith is just one of three clubs who do not have an option in any of their playing contracts, with Canterbury and the Roosters the other clubs.

The Panthers decided during their historic premiership four-peat to not allow any player or mutual options in their deals.

“At a point in time there was a robust discussion where the board endorsed a recommendation that the football department could not insert a mutual or player option into a contract,” Panthers rugby league boss Matt Cameron said.

The Panthers will allow for club options, which leaves the decision on a players’ future up to the club.

would love for it to be true, but i’m not sure we have the cap ourselves.

we have a lot less to spend than people think and that number gets smaller if Klemmer stays on.

That destroys the narrative that “every club does it”

Klemmer doesn't have a PO does he? We can just send him on his way and invest in a cheaper prop.
