Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sounds like Brown could be gone before the season starts at parra …

——-

Eels head of football Mark O’Neill said they were confident they will keep Brown.

“It’s well publicised that Dylan has an option in his contract that expires in round 10,” O’Neill said.

“We wanted to be proactive and get a resolution earlier and preferably before the season begins.

“Dylan is happy at the club, he has been here since he was 16 and we have put a lot of time into Dylan during his career and we are confident he is going to stay and have a great season.”

Is there a chance this is api’s second last season, or he could shift to 14 with TDS 9 in 2027 with a new contract if we get close to a premiership. Or are people confident he’s got one more contract in him

He is like the Dave Warner of 2nd rowers. When on top he's good. When the going gets tough he gets lazy.

Better than what we have but still think he's overpriced.
I think a few players can look that way (lazy or demotivated) after success at their previous team. Maybe the dominant motivation was the closeness of the family and mateship? Who knows? Even when he’s quiet he attracts some attention.

Nah I have seen Kikau put in even when his side is down.

He would be an OK fit here if we could upgrade a prop or two.. Not a superstar but not a bad player.

Surely I’m not the only thinking it would be nice to know what Galvin’s intentions are ASAP am I? Brown would make a handy replacement if we need to find one.
As much as I would love Galvin to re-sign, we cannot be held to ransom by he or his manager and we have to be realistic about his price tag.
On the flip side you can’t blame him for wanting to see if the team improves and becomes realistic finals contenders in 2025 and beyond.
I am anticipating Latu Fainu to really break out and prove to be a player we cannot leave out of top 17 in 2025. If that eventuates it will be fascinating to see if Benji finds a way to fit both he and Galvin into our starting line up,

Thats exactly where we are.
Dont wanna lose both.... (Teddy/Papa2.0 )which is worst case scenario..
.gotta leave it to Richo to manage these complex issues until he proves otherwise, and either option is a significant step up from 2 years ago
..and paired with Luai...significant playmaking firepower either way

Scares me parra got 900k free for an upcoming free agent young gun 6 who grew up a parra fan
Why would any other team take Brown at his asking price? He's not a halfback. He hasn't one games on his own. He is also in and out off games all last season.

Dylan Brown is not. Player you would build a team around sorry. He might be once he learns consistency, but he's A fair way off from that.

He won't leave. Think Galvin will stay if Jerome is here.

Sometimes I wonder if some of these players such as Dylan Brown are really playing to win premierships or just for the money as common sense should tell them if they are being overpaid it means their club will struggle to build a decent team around them.
Similar theory with Galvin, yes we want to keep him and pay him well to stay, but if he seriously expects to be paid close to a million dollars per season too soon, it will mean we do not have the available cap space to build a strong team around him.
This is exactly what Tedesco, Moses and Woods failed to understand when they all departed.
Hopefully Galvin is loyal enough and smart enough to accept a little bit less over the next few seasons while we have Luai on our books with an escalating long term contract to ensure he is getting the marquee money once Luai’s contract expires.
When I say accepting less, it would still likely be up around 800k per season for the next 3-4 seasons.
