Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Simon Dwyer never said "the club" -that is - , Wests Tigers, "hadn't done anything for him" He said the no-one from either the or NRL or RPLA contacted him after he had his career ending injury.

Simon's first role with Wests Tigers started in 2012 assembling clips and videos for Sheens two years before he even bothered to make that statement. Also in 2014, our club hosted a fundraising dinner for him at Wests Campbelltown which sold out and was a big success.

Nothing 'miraculous' about it.
I already clarified this.

Its almost like some people want to see Galvin leave, some sort of brownie points thing going on...I dunno
Cant hope he stays?

You're exactly right. I'm one of them, I can't help it. I wish it was different, but I have mixed feelings seeing him be so talented because I know he's absolutely stinging to play for the Eels some day. It was the same with Moses. Still shell-shocked and heartbroken from basically preparing two bespoke generational rep players for other clubs. He just feels like the next amazing talent to use us as his stepping stone.

Plenty of people outside the club thought we paid massive overs for Luai and it was the only reason he came to the club, now we are hearing that Dylan Brown wants in excess of a million. Now that’s what I do call overs, on his day he is a good footballer, but his form is up and down and I would never put him in the elite bracket. I bet if he signs for the Chooks for a million plus no one will be calling it overs

Ah, the mysterious " somebody". Fake news. Give it a rest. Some of you people need to get a life.
Anyone could make up that rumour at the moment and sound in the know. He grew up an eel. But they cut him.
Now if the Tigers did that to me I’d give them a second chance especially if coaching staff has changed. All depends how fanatical he was, (a fair bit), and how annoyed he is at being cut, but I think it cost him and his oldies some cash. If we start winning, he enjoys playing with JL and he’s loving life, we’re a chance.
Start losing again and he’ll be an eel if they jump through hoops dropping bags of cash.

Why would he want to play for the Eels when they have already rejected him once and their current r playing roster is not any better than ours ?
It’s best to think logically.

$750 tops.

Think logically? You think there’s no emotion attached to a kid who grew up fanatical about a club? See my other post.

Would you cut the tigers for the rest of your life bcoz they made an error while you were young, and say sorry we’ve changed the coach and this one loves you, wants to build your childhood club around you, oh and by the way we’ll give you $1m+, and we’ll fix your old man up for costing him when we had that other Dhead coach.
We need to win and show him plenty of immortals did not play for their childhood club.

High roller brother. I'd love to smoke a doobie and play poker with ya, you'd take all my money haha. I never got into Omaha you played it?
I move up to the blue Mtns years ago and they were playing a game called a-hole or c u next Tuesday? I can’t remember the name or how to play it but I loved that game.
Actually that is a problem I have, I forget the rules and need reminding and maybe one hand to get back into it.

We haven’t even played a game yet. Our coach is under the pump. He has no breathing room for a bad start to the year. If we struggle, he’s gone. We are still very much a wait and see. If we find ourselves out of the bottom 4 and a decent chance at the finals at the hallway point of the year, that’s when I think you can start saying we are on the improve
I reckon he’s gone regardless

I was one of the staunchest believers from the get go that Luai would sign, even when everyone was on edge. How many times afterwards did I ever puff my chest out about it? I’m just reading the room. He’s conveyed no interest so far in staying on, his manager is a grub and we’ve been down this road before,

I’m not sure why you conflate thinking he won’t stay with hoping he doesn’t.
I just don't understand when none of us know what he will do or what the future holds, why people choose to look at things negatively and then try and justify that with other "reasons" that may or may not occur.
OK sure if someone thinks he's going post your thoughts that's what this is for, but to keep at it multiple times for weeks is a bit much imo
Plus I Think he gets way too much attention not just here but RL media in general but that's irrelevant

If Galvin is going to leave, not sure why you would go to the Eels, they are a sinking ship. We are on the up, Latu would love to play with Luai.
Probably because Jason Ryles is able to talk up their training program and work ethic.

Plus you have Mitchell Moses who can give his slant on the saga.

I also believe Galvin was an Eels Junior that we pinched somehow.

But yes, looking at the Eels coaching staff. Ryles has set up Parra to be way too contact/tackle heavy. With Nathan Cayless, Nathan Brown and himself it's too much focus on muscle. Wait, Sam Moa was a prop too... That is entirely nuts, you don't have a halves coach at all bar Wisemantel who mainly played Rugby. ... Parra will be busting teams this year but they will be close to the bottom 4.

That doesn’t mean anything mate ! The best attacking coach right now was our prop in 05 . The best attacking coach of all time was a prop - Tim Sheens .
In fact , and this is based on arbitrary nonsense and if anyone wants to debunk it - go for it , the most defensive coaches from my experience are usually backs .

This makes sense to me.... As a back... Out wide.. youd need to be much more in tune and on top of things with your teams defensive structures than forwards in and around the ruck

Agree. Ivan Cleary is one of best defensive coaches in the game. He Scored points for fun when he played. I have heard plenty of people in the game say Todd Payten has the sharpest mind when it comes to attack (although Todd probably considered himself playing out of position at prop and not at halfback lol) Also some of the fairly ordinary players turn out to be pretty handy coaches. Judging a coaching ability on someone’s playing position isn’t ideal I wouldn’t think.

Just on Galvin its pretty easy to join the dots that Lachy is off to Parra. Dylan Brown may leave so that opens up the 6 spot and frees up the type of coin Lachy will probably want. His manager is the uncle of the newly appointed Eels captain. He grew up an Eels fan. We are hearing from Lachy the old “just focusing on footy and let my manager deal with that” rubbish. For me I am not sure if he leaves or if he stays but we can’t have him or his manager hold the club to ransom. We actually do have options if he opts out. One thing I do know is we have one of the smartest operators running the club and he will know pretty quickly what the go is. I do believe that Isaac Moses and Richo have a fairly decent relationship, certainly better than our previous blokes.
