Meetings are fine any time. Just can't make a formal offer. "My word is solid as oak" stuff is fine.

But meetings should not be fine. No meeting with a player before the final 3 months if his contract. Can only take to a players agent once in the final year if a contract.
Or better yet, just eliminate agents all together. Ban them, assign NRL representatives who's job is to negotiate on behalf of a player. Some are still better than others, players choose the style that reflects their needs. No commisions involved. Small sign on bonus so those with more clients get compensated.

Great post mate I have always thought that the NRL could make a stand against these parasites along these lines, that is the missing link to making the NRL even better, let them infiltrate some other sport and stink it up.

As annoying as it is hearing about it when it relates to players we ideally want to keep, it simply means we need to do everything we can to ensure the players we desperately want to keep are always signed for at least 2 years in advance.

Good point V but what BB proposed has real merit I would love to see Isaac Moses being told to bugger off, hate the way he invades clubs to the point he has too much power a real blight on the game, can ruin teams as we have seen.

I don’t think he helps his clients either. Sure he puts a few more dollars in their pockets, but doesn’t seem to look after their best interests.
