1st trial thoughts?

This time last year there were 3 or 4 people on here predicting Lobb to be on the wing in FG for us each week,i honestly don't think any of them had watched him play (i had watched him at the dragons in reggies and he was the same there).
I don't dislike him but i can't see him ever being FG standard
Not sure he is 3rd grade standard 🤔😀

Maybe not yet but there’s potential in him. He had the most running metres out of the entire team, he might not be ready yet but he’s got potential to be one in the future.
I agree, there’s potential. He might need another year a he doesn’t stop other middles early enough, maybe due to less size and strength.

Solomone Saukuru surprised me. Ran for 120 metres in half a game and looked strong albeit in the second half against less expensive opposition.

Kit was strong. Looked likely with every hit up, especially in his second stint.

Tino Tavana at fullback had some class about him.

Skelton is ready for first grade

Saukuru is an attacking weapon, if he can get his defence up to standard he would become a very valuable centre.

Meh. Okay not brilliant. Didn’t take our chances at times. A few guys looked okay, some not so good. Referee looked like he needs a few dozen trials. Cooper Cronk kept shooting his load about Canterbury every few minutes.
Cronk the gronk. I’m not usually someone who plays the victim card with the “So and so hates us”, but Cronk is someone who truly does. Something about the way he talks about us. I’d describe it as subtle disdain. Though, I think that’s how is with any bottom club. He’s an elitist.

Positives
- no injuries
- Galvin played a hand in one break, one try from memory
- Tim J got through a heap of work, especially in second stint
- Kit L was great in second stint
- Tino Tavana looked great
- Fataape looked really fit and dangerous in attack
- I thought our defence looked pretty good until we started making a heap of changes
- Skelton is a beast

Negatives
- Our attack on their line looked disjointed
- Some silly errors - forced offloads
- At least 2 bulldogs tries were mainly caused by Lobbs bad reads, which won’t happen with Turuva
- there were times where we looked we couldn’t get out of our own half

Nothing else to report really. Game was as expected - I thought our effort was good and we have time to work on attack for next trial, and I’m sure Luai and regular centres will help a heap with that.

There was a point in the second half where he was talking up the Dog’s shutting down our go forward. Next two runs we made 25m. Crickets…

I don’t think lobb will make it unfortunately. he just seems to be afraid of contact and never seems to win the ruck on his runs

Cronk clearly doesn’t like the tigers as they are one of the few clubs that aren’t paying for his consultancy.

Have to agree on Lobb big but not much power or speed, Feledy too small and not enough pace for 1st grade.
There was a lot of hype around Lobb this time last year having just come from the Dragons. Scored a good try in the first 5 mins of his debut, coincidentally against the Dragons. Then was never sighted again in the next two or three games he played
