Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Particularly when we also had two other players, nearly 3 walk out as well. It’s always the players fault to some. If one of these new signings doesn’t work out and God forbid has a falling out with the club, it will be his fault too.
That happens at all clubs. Flannagan had his two best players walk. Penrith have had players walk because they are looking for better deals and or for family reasons. Joey Manu walked out on the Roosters as did Sualli all decisions made by players for their own reasons.
We have also had quality players sign on - knowing we are three year spoon team - of a calibre that we haven't seen in years - perhaps that should counteract the ones we have lost/ let go.

Here's a take the forum will hate:

I think we are a good chance at trying to sign Brandon Smith. He'll be cheap due to a dip of form and coming off injury, and he covers that vital 13 role we lack and can cover dummy half.

Has kiwi connections with Benji and has been open about wanting to sort his future out ASAP.

My take is that Smith does not want to come here… listening to his pod with Graham he doesn’t seem to respect the Tigers much

Klemmer was rubbish at Newcastle before he came here, not like he came here and suddenly bombed, Bateman hadn't played in Australia or a few seasons, Joe O has probably performed even worse at Parra.

Steph I will watch with interest to see if he can lift at Melbourne, he was mentally soft here and Papalii didn't play as well as he did at Parra.

The last two I will lay some blame on the coaching staff for not getting them firing.

Klemmer, Bateman and Joe were poor buys, the change in the game with the new rules has made those three obsolete from being top quality
Papalii had one great season at Parra. That's all. The rest of the time he played pretty much as he did here. (Of all of the players to walk out the door, he's the one I would have preferred to keep, as much because he could play in a position we are lacking - lock forward). However, if I am honest, I would only consider him as a solid first grader, nothing special.
Joe has always just been solid. Nothing fancy there. Not sure really why he's played SOO to be honest. Plenty better in my opinion. Klemmer is again, a solid first grader. Won't win you games with a big break a la AFB or Payne Hass, but won't lose you any either.
Bateman - hmm. He had to be shown the door. Whether it was a clash of personalities, or whether Jonneh is just a difficult human being to get along with - who knows. He may 'kill it' at the Cows. But I reckon by halfway through the season he'll be a regular reserve grader.
Steph - certainly has all the potential to be a really strong prop forward. We'll see what Bellamy gets out of him. I wish him well - just not against the Tigers. But personally, I'm happy with our replacements up front.

Pretty sure on a podcast I heard him say he has no interest in joining the Tigers. Though he might have been coked up at the time.

I would be happy with taking a chance on Cheese. we'd be buying the dip on a player entering the prime of his career who's won premierships, played in elite systems and has represented his country.

he's had a tough time at the Chooks, but I don't think it's because he's played especially bad. I think it's more a stylistic issue, evidenced by the Reece Robson signing.

he'd be the perfect lock for us. high leg speed, competitive and devastating on his day.

That’s bullshit . That’s been reclassified recently . I’m the same age as Benji, and most of my friends used to be obsessed with being classified gen X , and just scraped in as at the time it was 84. Late gen X early gen y was the go .
There’s no way you can classify someone born in 94 as the same generation as 84 . That’s stupid , and recently be recategorised that way .
For example my age group was the last to grow up without internet , discovering the net when we were early teens like 14 and 15 with thing like Mirc and ICQ . Things that were long gone by the time someone who was born 10 years later would have been the same age . That’s an easy one . Because it’s soo obvious .
Old people like you have ruined the planet. Your kind should be shipped off to an island exile so younger people can undo the damage you've done.
Man I hate you old farts.

I listen to the podcast as well. His Tigers comments and those on Benji made me think we are a chance. Everyone hears a bit differently it seems

Yeah
- I've always thought he'd been flattering to Benji in the very least...
Even his comment about not needing to see the air conditioner in the new training facilities
(Or some such comment) made me wonder if he was referring to us.

Slater's comments on Luai and Galvin are interesting. Slater has been a revelation in the commentary box and someone mentioned who would replace Gould if he concentrated only on Canterbury. That should be Slater.

Thought somethign similar... Mentioned it here last year.
I actually think Galvin will end up a 7 (Quasi 6)
I've compared him to Thurston a lot, And will again...

Not comparing them - Or their contribution to the game...
But Galvin is as close a player to JT as I've seen.
Just their doggedness and determination, and being where the ball is...
Galvin is very JT like.

Don't need to compare them, But I'm almost certain JT wasn't doing what Galvin is at 18-19.
No matter where he ends up, I'll always be a fan of the way he plays the game.

He sh*ts on us every chance he gets, only recently has he been less harsh because duh he's on the outer and wants a payday. Before the chooks pushed him out he'd laugh at us and I remember one episode said 'I could never play at a club like that' or something a long those lines.

He'd always put the boot in and make off handed comments about how bad we were, which was true but still I'm sure the club wouldn't be happy signing someone like that.

No thanks would rather have players who WANT to be here not just for the money, also yeah he isn't the player he was at the Storm and never will be again.

It was also mentioned that you don't need ex players, coaches or administrators in the commentary box and any fan on the hill could do it.

We had it all - cheap assets ( homes, holiday homes ++), free university, great superannuation, great music and drugs. You guys will have a lot to clean up !!
Not me mate. I've clocked the machine and I'm on my second go around, so I'm now calling myself a born again GenZ.
Of course I'm not giving back the house and money, that's the benefit of clocking the machine and living the born again life.

He needs to prove he's over that knee injury before anyone would seriously look at him, we already have 2 that have suffered in that department, then there's the nasty habits he needs to get on top of as well.
